Commercial Description:
Our annual holiday ale from Alpine Beer Company. A Bavarian Dunkelweizen was brewed as the base beer because of the flavor compliments it has with pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. We’ve used premium German malts and hops in keeping with style authenticity. Share this hauntingly delicious brew with a friend because two heads are better than one.

22oz bottle. Very dark beer, no light was evident at all. Very roasty and smokey aroma, hint of coffee as well. The pumpkin and spices were much more prevelant in the flavor than the aroma. Overall a pretty good beer.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Spice and a malt/pumpkin aroma. Light roasty, spice flavor with yeast and vegetal notes. Vegetal notes linger with spice and light roast.

Pours a dark, dark brown with hints of mahogany around the edges. The tan head is big and creamy and shows good retention and leaves decent lacing. The aroma is pretty mellow and dominated by roasted malts, hints of pumpkin, and a little bit of spice thrown in. The taste also has the toasted chocolate malts up front with only the faintest hint of pumpkin and spices. Theres definitely a lighter bready character in the background that takes away from the heft. The aftertaste is light and dry. The mouthfeel is light for the style and slightly watered down. The carbonation is fairly high but theres not enough body underneath to make it meaningful. I was not overly impressed with this one and was expecting something with a little more umph.

Dark mahogany in color, the edge of this brew is slightly translucent when backlit. A foamy, beige colored head settles slowly to a wispy film, leaving soapy lacing that mostly rejoins the body. Scents of powdered cocoa, lactose, and earthy hops are lightly spiced with pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavors follow suit, except to say that cinnamon asserts itself a bit more. Dry, dark cocoa malts are slightly acrid with chocolaty bitterness, while the pumpkin serves mainly as a nice afterthought. The body is a little light, but I want that in a sessionable dunkelweizen. Carbonation is moderate in this easy going, tasty brew. Solid overall, and a very nice interpretation of this classic German style.

Bottle shared by wolf. Black, good size head. Aroma of some cinnamon and pumpkin. Taste was malt and hops but with a pumpkin taste. The texture was watery. Not a bad idea to throw some pumpkins in a dunkel. I just wish it wasnt so watery. Thanks wolf

An interesting and complex beer, the first I have tried from Alpine. I want to dock them some points for calling a lager an ale, but I will let em off easy. Flavor is dominated by roasted malt with strong pumpkin and spices and some acidity. It is a little more watery on the mouthfeel than you would expect, but then again, as much as they try to deny it, it is a lager so you cannot fault it there.

Pumpkin spice, roasted wheat, more spice. Brown pour with a thin head. Flavors are a little tart with dark roasted wheat and light spice in the finish. The pumpkin spice lingers in the finish. Kind of unimpressive to me. I was expecting more to tell the truth. Seemed thin to me.

22oz bottle from hannont. thanks buddy.... pours a dark brown almost black with an extremely fluffy tan head.... bready caramel malts and dark fruits, light on the nutmeg. cant really detect that much pumpkin tho.... very light pumpkin to start with nutmeg making its way in on the backend. somewhat thin but had a nice creamy mouthfeel
