| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Pours light copper color with a white head. Aroma is amazing!!! It smells of very juicy grapefruit, dank and pungent hops. Flavor is nice malt caramel, some toasted malts, and a nice juicy bitter hop finish. IEBAILI (123), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Deep gold, white foam with pretty good retention, intense hop aroma, fresh, foresty, little malt in the smell, the taste is, well, pure hoppiness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium light carbonation. A soft, round texture provides contrast to the aggressively bitter hops. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

Pours a medium golden with a MASSIVE four finger head. Huge carbonation and sticky lacing. I’m having a tough time pouring this because the head retention is incredible. Aroma is great. Big piney hops, citrus, grapefruit, light floral, Flavor is bitter citrus, hops, pine, grapefruit. The finish is bitter, dry and sticky. I loved it. This was a real treat. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Bottle. Brilliantly clear with a perfect, sticky head. Floral and spicy aroma, delicate for the style. Juicy malt and spicy citrus hop flavor. Distinct IPA with a hop combo I don’t think I’ve ever had. Nice but it doesn’t quite deliver that javelin tip of hop straight to the tongue, like I want it to. pantanap (1369), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2007 bottle......pours a semi-transparent light golden brown with an aggressive off-white head.....the nose is pretty incredible. intense aromatic flowery hops and an abundance of tropical fruit. mango is definitely accurate. the aroma literally explodes out of the glass....flavors are mainly of fruity hops with a little sweetness thrown in for good measure.....i have seriously found my new favorite ipa. if you like your ipas with a huge tropical fruit hop component with little bitterness, i would wholeheartedly recommend this. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Big thankls to cbkschubert for this one. Pours clear dark straw with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma is sticky, sweet tropical fruit, massive wet hops, caramel malt, honeydew, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, and black pepper. Tastes very hoppy, with the tropical fruit medley listed above, and the malt balancing the fruit and hops very well. Crisp, very hoppy, complex, and well balanced palate. The initial appearance of this one was more toward the dark straw/gold end of the spectrum, so in that respect the appearance belies the intensity of the hop/fruit aroma and flavor somewhat. If beer were analogous to music, this one would be (and is) a classical masterpiece. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Poured a hazy copper body with a huge white head that slowly went away. Aroma is sweet lemongass and perfume. Flavors were sweet lemons through out with some mild floral hops present and a little spice in the finish. Perfectly balanced with great hop flavors. stefanje (952), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Updated: May 29, 2009650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a rich translucent copper color with a sudsy white head that slowly receded and left behind a trail of lacing. The aroma is big and bold with lots of citrus (candied grapefruit), thyme and sweet saltwater taffy. The flavor features a sweet and biter effect with taffy, vanilla, pine, citrus and caramel; all set in a biter backdrop. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and satisfying. The finish long with more biter-sweet candy sensations.
Re-rate note: Drank this on new years eve (2009) just prior to consuming a Sculpin and thought it compared very favorably to that beer. In particular I picked up a chlorophyll green hop note that I did not taste the first time I sampled this beer. Very nice. I’m raising my rating by two basis points from 3.9 to 4.1.
