Good hangtime and nice residual lacing w/ a full, thick canopy. Aromas of hopsy starburst fruit chews at first then a slight biscuiting settles in. Medium full nectar w/ ample residual effers. The texture is a creamy cotton style. I’m amazed right off the bat. It’s not a malt bomb. Theres so much hop essence showing through theres no time for gooey malts. I’m talking perfect balance here. It’s not a grapefruit rollup either. It’s all citrus rind and asprin. I’d say asprin juice w/ a dash of tangerine, candy necklace, and biscuits. The sweetness factor, well, it just doesn’t factor in. It’s so mild, like a breeze in the 110 degree AZ heat . This is refined and so drinkable. The finish is scarred w/ all the aspin and only allows a slight amount of caramel to reach my palate. This is classic and I highly recommend getting some. breals (7), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 9, 2008 It has a TON of hop, it’s all hop, every last good drop of this golden beer is a hoppy delight. It has a good nose, amber color and is well balanced on the palate.
I purchase this by the growler at the Alpine Beer Company. Yet another reason I love San Diego; great weather and great local beer. puggy211 (589), cordova, Tennessee, USA

It has a very impressive mix of well asserted hops likely with late Cascade additions. The thing that makes this an incredible beer is that it retains a smooth taste despite huge amount of hops being used. Is smooth like Pliny. damjadi (4), Kaiserslautern, Germany does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 27, 2003 Overall hop character is amazing. Aroma of, you guessed it, HOPS; quality hops. The aroma also has malt, citrus, grass, and flowers. The flavor was, yes you guessed it again, HOPS; quality hops. Tastes of citrus and grass blended wonderfully. Alcohol is not noticeable, even at the 8% content. What would make this the perfect IPA? The color looks just like urine and it is not available in my area! beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 18, 2004 Clear light golden yellow with slow and steady carbonation bubbles within; a firm finger high head of off-white froth gradually fades, lace in good amounts of webby strings.
Puree of hops on the nose! Mega resin filled, alpha acidic, sour citric acids, highly floral sweet and ripe with super fresh zest of grapefruit rinds, lime skins, lemon peels, tangerine, apricot, and the presupposed presense of dryish pine coming through in a largely cedarific sweet sap dryness. Awesome hop nose! Oh my...
Taste has a soothingly mild sweet malt front which is misleading because quickly thereafter the hops build and build and engorge your mouth with cottony sour drying citric acids and juices that are loaded to the hilt bearing piney bitterness and alpha acid wonderment that lingrers for a time beyond time. This gives me the chills on how much after effects the hops have on the palate, wow! Reminds me alot of Rogue's Brutal Bitter which to this day had been my favorite late lingering palate buster. This equals it if not surpasses it due to a bit more complexitiy in the citric bite. Wonderful hop profile, it has a complexing crescendo and contour with all sorts of mixed and super fresh citrusy peels and juices. Yum!
Super clean and fresh, piney, citric, borderline souring bitterness, and full bodied with a crisp drying bitter hop finish that twists your tonsils and blankets your entire mouth, lips included. A purely delightful palate buster! Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
