RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2007 22oz bottle from Secret Santa. Aroma: Hop aroma practically leaps from the glass. Tons of pine, grapefruit, orange, and resinous aromas. Some toasty malt and light caramel aromas in the background. A faint herbal note comes through as it warms. Appearance: Deep golden in color and slightly hazed. Off-white head was full and frothy with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Juicy grapefruit comes through the strongest throughout, with pine just trailing after. Resin, grass, and a light minty note as well. Bready, toasty malt with a good caramel note. Medium-high bitterness leads into an unsatisfying wet finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Light alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: Another ’if only the flavor matched the aroma’ beer. Smells great, but the hop punch is offset by the wet finish.
dkachur (999), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 31, 2008 22 ounce bottle shared by cdumler. Thanks! Pours a hazy orange color with a medium frothy head (like chocolate milk) and particles suspended in the beer. Nice lacing and retention. Big hop aroma with citrus, resin and pine notes and a big honey-like malt backbone. Taste is lemon and resin hops with a tea-like character. Medium bodied. Very nice beer. cgarvieuk (2601), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 18, 2008 Bottle at home ... Crisp clear amber ... sweet resiny pin hop nose... sweet resins ... quiet intense pine ... very juicy ... hides its 8% well ... light bitter linger ... but its sweet juicyness goes down a treat. KieferUGA (382), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 17, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of Beerlando. Clear, amber color. Large, fluffy white head. Nice floral hop aroma. Flavor is sublime. Just the right balance of caramel maltiness and piney hops. Twinge of bitterness at the finish. Wonderful beer! danielcurtis81 (250), San Diego, California, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle. Incredibly full floral hop nose! A slightly hazy amber with just a bit of fizz. Salty start quickly gives way for the hop bitterness. The bitters take you for a long finish with sweet tones lingering at the tip of the tongue too. The name says it all! Delicious! explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Sep 26, 2008 First off, I didn’t take notes when I tasted this beer. But it is quite memorable so hopefully that’ll be sufficient. From what I remember it was a fine clear light amber color. What was most outstanding was the amazing aroma that simply exploded with hoppy goodness. The body was nicely balanced with sweet maltiness and it finished as spectacularly as it started. This is a beautiful beer.
