CapFlu (3242), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 28, 2008 (22oz bottle) At hospitable Enniskillen’s RR Batch 001 Party. Quick dissipating head, high carbonated and a deep golden body. Nose is great. Nice orange and pine hop flavour. Very good.
Dogbrick (2161), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2008 Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. This brew is a mostly clear orange-gold color with a thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Fruity hops aroma with some caramel malt interplay. Medium-bodied and lively on the tongue with a floral hops character and a solid caramel and malt undertone. The finish is citrus and hops with a lingering bitterness left over. Good all around. General_Gao (2303), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jul 8, 2008 22oz bottle. Attractive hop dominated aroma with grapefruit, pine resin, and lime notes. There was also a whiff of spices. Poured a clear medium orange color with a lasting off white head. Some decent lace was left behind on the glass. Light to medium bodied with hop bitterness on the higher end of the spectrum (7-ish out of 10). The flavor was mostly resiny/citrusy hops with a delicate graham cracker/caramel malt backbone. Delicious. Eminently drinkable. enginaaron (20), San Diego, California, USA Jul 5, 2008 Huge aroma with the best hop balance/combination of any imperial iPA in San Diego county. Clear golden color. The flavor isn’t overly bitter but has a large amount of malt but not too sweet, to an retain an IPA-type balance. Very tasty. Hits you in all sides of the mouth with a combination of bitterness and sweetness. Overall I love this beer. I’ve had it several times and it continues to be a favorite of mine. Actually, I think the cask version of this is probably the best double IPA I’ve ever had. Sparky27 (388), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle courtesy of BOLTZ7555. Pours a clear amber with 2 finger beige head and great lacing. Nose is floral hops, caramel malts and some Douglas fir. Taste is toffee, pink grapefruit , ripe orange and pine. Medium, creamy mouth feel. This is a nicely balanced IPA with enough pop to be considered an IIPA. I bet this is killer on tap. Great beer – thanks Jason! bluemeow76 (685), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA Jul 3, 2008 On draft at San Diego Brewery. Great pine aroma, fantastic hoppy bite. Wonderful flavor. A really solid beer.
