GG (1609), NorCal, California, USA Oct 14, 2009 500ml flip top bottle. A cola brown body, clear with a sudsy off-white head with zero retention. Aroma is sweet, with a subtle roasted note and damp grain. Flavor is a bland mix of malt, wet paper, earthy hops and light caramel. Forgettable. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Sep 21, 2009 16oz ceramic bottle 5/00-Pours a dak amber with a decent head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and roasted malt. Taste of the same with some more sweetness coming through. This medium bodied brew is a nice tasting Dunkel. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 25, 2009 11/10/2007: Privatbrauerei Franz Joseph Jubel pours out in a murky brown stream with a fizzy and quickly dissipating beige-colored head. The aroma has caramel, hints of chocolate, and slightly oxidized fruit that is actually quite inviting. The fruity flavor has a date and malt sweetness at first along with traces of milk chocolate (think YooHoo) and caramel. There is a mild, balancing bitterness in the finish to the malty and earthy flavors. There is also some apple-like characteristic in the difficult to describe flavor, but it is mostly lots of sweet, rich, lasting caramelized maltiness along with some chocolate. This medium-bodied beer is smoft and smooth on the palate.
16 fl. oz. flip-top bottle with handle shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #138 for this beer.
CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Dec 12, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Took long enough to find this one. Couldnt read the damn label. Anyway...to the beer. Very sweet, molasses nose. Reminded me of a J.W. Lees barley wine. Flavor is different, wicked complex, sweet malts, but gets a little unpleasantly sour in the finish. Overall, a interesting experience, but not as good as hoped. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 1, 2008 My bottle looks a lot different than the picture, but this is the name of the beer. Cool little bottle with a handle, unique looking. Pours a burgundy beiege color, with a light amount of fruit and a hint of spice in the nose. The flavor is not overly rich but quite malty, with a somewhat chewy caramel and toffee. Light, but not underbodied, and very drinkable. BBB63 (4179), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jan 9, 2008 Quite a stunning flip top bottle honestly and served in my NB worthy glass: A deep russet hue with a fading frothy off-white head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and nutty malts, some dark bread, a hint of dry apple and anise. The taste pretty much follows suit with sweet bready malt, a hint of fruity twang and some light-handed rye-like spice upon the finish. The mouth feel is soft and smooth, refreshing actually. A good bier and above average for the genre. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 15, 2007 Off notes 1/2007. Pours a near opaque ruby brown with a tan head. Nose is brown sugar with a bit of licorice and malt on there too. Flavor has some good depth to it, but is a tad bit watery on the end I think. Feel is a bit thin and carbonation is low. Overall it is a pretty drinkable brew. Not the greatest marzen ever, but pretty nice. Worth trying. And it comes in such a nice bottle too. :-) kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Jubel Bier
