Sparkling clear mahogany lager. Medium-sized, fizzy, off-white head.
The aroma and flavor are weak, but not unpleasant. Both contain very light notes of dark fruit, clover honey and caramel. Decently bittered with a well-balanced flavor.
Medium-bodied with creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish with a hint of toffee. bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2003 Not really any head on a dismal-looking reddish brown body. Smells sort of spicy, and a lot like many Belgian strong Ales. Dry and somewhat lacking in flavor. A little ashy, some caramel but without any sweetness. There's a nice, brief sharpness in the finish. notalush (2663), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 24, 2003 Of course I bought it for the ceramic bottle with Santa on it...duh! And actually, the bottle is much more interesting than the beer contained within it - malty, fruity, bock-ish qualities, but although the flavor is good, it is a little on the thin side, as is the body and finish - some hops balance out the mixture of caramel sweetness - nothing to celebrate about, and the price is totally unjustified, even for the bottle without the beer. stefanberggren (135), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2003 I bought this labled as a Dopplebock, but I am unable to find a "doppleversion" on with the site. So I will lable it as a Dunkle although this is pretty malty, but could fit into the realm of Dunkle (albeit a far edge) Really nice garnet brown color with a white head that dissapated in about 3 minutes. Aroma wonderful with wafts of malt, and roasted grains. First sip is full of malt and nice touch of hops at the end of the sip. I pick up caramel, slight grain notes along with raisin, however the finish is really clean and smooth. Nice beer and a nice handled bottle (will use for some homebrew...) bac080 (398), Boardman, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2003 Dark amber color. Medium head. Aroma is brown sugar, malts and fruit. A medium bodied dunkel. Malts are roasty, nutty and sweet. Mild hops. Touch of spiciness. Nicely balanced. I mainly bought this beer for the fancy Santa bottle, but it was a definitely drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. tallmatt67 (99), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2003 (bottled) Dark reddish-brown, brilliantly clear. Toasty malt aroma. Nutty, toasted sweet malt flavor with medium bitterness in a moderately big-bodied, lightly carbonated beer. Lingering sweetness with a decidedly strong malt flavor dominating the finish.
