Brown color with a laced tan head. The "dark" German beer malt and nut aroma and flavor. While there is a a hint of spice, it is not enough to make this beer interesting. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

I had no idea what to expect upon opening this very interesting and unique bottle. The aroma is sweet, and the pour is a deep brown color with a big puffy head. Lots of caramel, very malty with some ensuing spiciness that makes this one have a unique character for a dunkel. So easy to drink, I would love to have some more of this. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2003 Aroma is chocolate and caramel. Apperance is brown with a nice head. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, and nutmeg with a slight bitterness. Palate is a little watery. I haven't had many Dunkels but so far I enjoy the style and this is no exception. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 9, 2003 Dark red/brown. Diminishing head. Intense maltiness, a bit roasty. This reminds me somehow of Schwarzbier. I´m not a great fan of Dunkel or Schwarzbier and this didn´t make me change my mind. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA
