Sep 14, 2005 Bottle. Roasted, almost smokey aroma. Clear dark brown colour, small head. Lightly roasted flavour, hint of malt. A little sweet. Not very spezial.

Jul 10, 2005 Mahogany color with an off-white head. Malty, chocolate aroma with light smoke and tobacco. Toasty malts, some cocoa and molasses. Finishes kind of dry with a hint of nutmeg.

Jul 4, 2005 Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga - 16 oz stopper top bottle - blue label with "Jubel" on it. Pours a dark copper with a frothy thick off-white head. Malty aroma with some toffee and molasses notes. Flavor has the same molasses tints with some sweet caramel and a touch of chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick and warming. Decent dunkel.

Jun 15, 2005 An above-average German dunkel. Liked the bottle a lot. The beer is very good but not quite as distinctive. Poured a tawny colour with ruby highlights. The bottle provided a restrained pour that kept the head to a modest 1cm. Bit of lacework. Delicious sweet aroma of treacle, licorice and a hint of spiced apples. Quite lean in the body, moderately carbonated and smooth, with a dry, bitter finish. There are toffee apple notes upfront and plenty of sweet dark malt, with some spicy bitterness in the finish. May 27, 2005 I’m not sure when this brewery went out of business, but this is still sold in stores here in Portland. Pours a nice clear copper with a small white head. This beer had a bit of oxidation in it, but not too badly. Aroma has a honey/caramel sweetness, with some fruity esters. This was very watery on the palate, which kinda tricks you since the oxidation gave it a sweeter smell making you think it should be a bit thicker. This brew was still drinkable, but on its last legs.

May 11, 2005 Deep amber in color with a loose frothy head. Aroma of dark caramel, raisen, some coffee, a little soap. Rich and malty in flavor with some spiciness and dark fruit. Fast finish. A little watery. A little oxidized. Not bad but not worth $5.

Apr 13, 2005 Amber in color small off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and fruit. Flavors of spicy hops,caramel malt,toasted amlt. Starts sweet and ends dry.
