| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Body is reddish-brown under a quickly disappearing beige head. The nose has malt, caramel, molasses, and fresh baked bread. Light bodied, watery texture. The flavor was sweet, candy, malty. Not a bad Dunkel.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2004 16 oz jug with rubber stopper: explosive pop followed by a tan foam from the bottle top…a quick pour results in a dark red brown liquid with purple hues. Nice, creamy head retention. Deep bready aromatics, mixed with rum and liquid caramel. A whirlwind of carbonation swirls through the glass after each pour. Strongly spicy initially, with pepper and all spice gripping the tongue. Finish is full of gooey, bitter caramel and leaves a candish coating in the mouth. Not the sort of Dunkel I am used to, different and interesting. Choos (504), Taylors Hill, Australia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 1, 2004 Aroma: like freshly cracked malted barley, sweet complex with some vinous smells mixed in. Appearance: murky dark brown with hints of red. Slightly off white head and some lacing. Flavour: sweet malt, some of the same vinous notes from the aroma and some mocha all balanced with a generous amount of hop flavour. Palate: a bit thinner than I would have expected for this and a slightly grainy aftertaste. I liked it! Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2004 Pours an opaque brown with a thick beige head that quickly disapates, leaving a yeasty film. Aroma and flavor are very rich: malty, fruity ... like a caramel apple dipped in brandy or spiced rum perhaps. Sweet with a lightly bitter finish. Solid palate that stops just short of being syrupy. Excellent, robust beer ... a good nightcap. Interesting style ... it’s supposedly a dunkel, but it could almost pass for a barleywine. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2004 As cool of a bottle that’s out there. Murky brownish red color with a small head. Aroma is mostly malt with some sour apple and caramel. Taste is roasted malts, caramel, spiced apples, and even more malt. Not much in the hops category but it works for me. mutant (854), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Medium brown with a small, persistent head. Malty, almost herbal aroma. Relatively mild but ’creamy’ taste. A little over roasted in the finish. Beautiful bottle.
