Pale golden colour with a white head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of fruit. Malty and grainy flavor with a light hoppy finish.

Thin white head, pale golden body. Maize and hop in the aroma. Rather sharp with citrus tones. Light rancid malt and hop flavor with fruity notes. Not very good, sharp and unbalanced and thin bodied.

Smooth, fruity pilsener, malt-driven rather than hoppy. Poured a pale gold colour with a 2cm white head that left a little lace during a quick retreat. Notably fruity nose - peaches, passionfruit and lemon ice cream. Big malty palate - this is beautifully put together. Velvety mouthfeel, thin-to-medium body. Some peachy fruit in the mix. The finish is a little short but that’s a minor criticism of a very well-constructed pils. (Swingtop 50cl bottle, best before 30/6/05)

I bought this specifically for the 2 liter swing top bottle (only $7.95) on base, The beer was a bonus! A clear medium gold with a small white head. A light malty sweet scent, mild noble hops...just enough to tease. Average pils up front but some wine-like tart fruitiness in the follow and a mild hop aftertaste kick it up a notch above the run of the mill Altenmunster.

This was the most expensive pils I ever bought. It wasn’t worth it. Pale yellow colour, huge white head. Some carbonation, but no lacing. Nothing impressive. Smells malty. Tastes malty and lemony, filling maybe. Still nothing impressive. Overall, an average pilsener. Well, the bottle was great looking, with a resealable plastic cork and could make someone uninformed think that they’re buying something great. I always check before buying something, so I wasn’t dissapointed much. By the way, the 2l bottle of this beer is the biggest glass beer bottle I’ve ever seen, and by far the most expensive one. Oh, and it says that it’s brewed by Brauhaus Altenmünster in Marktoberdorf. That makes 2 beers that are listed here under Privatbrauerei Franz Joseph Sailer that say that they are brewed somewhere else. It’s probably a matter of brewery changing name when this one is concerned, but the Oberdorfer Weissbier still puzzles me.
