| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Man, this bottle was downright volcanic - turbid gold beer, with a massive head, and sticky, sudsy lace - the first thing that hits my nose is the smell of blue cheese and a musty, cellared quality - underneath this is a subtle fruity sweetness, and some notes of herbs - the flavor is semi-tart, almost sour, with a strong wheaty tang, light grassy/herbal hints, a very mild funkiness/earthy character - strong spicy character late makes the beer a bit warming - a finish of melon rind and light touch of sweetness - based on the ratings below, there is a lot of bottle variation with this one - this bottle was pretty good, though. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2009 What a cute bottle! Pours a cloudy orange with a thick, foamy, fluffy white head. Aroma of spices (pepper and clove), yeast, a touch of skunk. Flavor of light sweet fruits and light citrus initially with a spicy kick in the finish. Some diacetyl, but only slight. A nice, chill, spicy Belgian. Pretty decent.
