Commercial Description:
The hazelnut flavor in this beer adds just the right amount of nuttiness to this unique English Brown Ale. Crystal malt is used to give this beer its slightly sweet finish, while dark roasted malts add both color and flavor. Mellow English hops are used to enhance the flavor while being careful not to add a bitterness to compete with the wonderful character of the hazelnut. An ale as unique as the tavern for which its brewed. Brewed for Alternative Brews (Amherst).

Nice dark ale with a thick tan head, Malty aroma with some bittersweet chocolate mixed in. Nutty, bittersweet chocolate flavor and a touch of rum balanced by some hop bitterness, medium mouth feel. You seem to either really like this brew a lot or not at all, happen to like it a lot, perfect company to a fine hand made cigar.

On tap at Alternative Brews. Light brown color with a small tan head. The aroma and taste remind me of nutella spread. The body is a little thin and very carbonated. Not too bad but nothing to go out of your way for.

Tap at Amherst Pizza/Ale house. Tastes like someone dumped a bottle of hazelnut extract into the glass. Absolutely overwhelming nutty, hard to finish. At least there are no other vile overtones present.

Pours a clear brown color with a thin offwhite head. Very strong and disgusting aroma of nutella. The flavor has the same nutella thing going on with some malt. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Yuck.

I will admit that the hazelnut is huge and over the top. It tastes good, but the obvious use of the hazelnut to hide everything else is detracting.
