Jan 21, 2008 Dark brown colored with red hints, hazy appearance. Huge light brown head. Strongly christmassy spiced aroma with cardamom dominating, sweetness with some caramel and some lemon there too, complex aroma, also bitterness from hops and mild alcohol come up. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is more dry with stronger hops, still this same strong cardamom-spiciness here . Aftertaste dries even more with conveniently warming alcohol and bitter hops, some added sugar comes up here too. Complex brew indeed.

Jan 8, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a huge tan head. Complex spicy aroma with coriander and cardamom most evident. Yeasty. Spicy caramel and yeasty bread flavours, ending dry. Warming alcohol. Medium carbonation. Full-bodied. A rich and complex Christmas beer.

Dec 23, 2007 Bottle @ Kerstbier Fest, Essen. Very dark, almost opaque appearance. Nose of oak, caramel, licorice and chocolate. Complex palate of raisins, oak, ginger, chocolate and more. Slightly bitter finish. A sweet, yet a bit tart Belgian barleywine. Very enjoyable.
