hopdog (4371), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 5, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Poured a deep and cloudy reddish / brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of herbalness, lots of different spices, ginter and fresh mint leaves. Tastes of tart cherries, dark fruits, herbal, and spices. The light to medium tart and sour finish took me by surprise - a nice surprise as I liked it. Alcohol content well hidden.
heemer77 (3609), North Liberty, Iowa, USA Jul 2, 2008 From a 330 ml bottle. Nearly half the bottle went all over my desk. I had let it sit outside of the fridge for about 30 minutes, obviously, that was about 30 minutes too long. Couldy dark, rusty brown with a now light tan and orange head. The aroma is bready and malty with some notes of the ginger. There is also a cocoa base under that. The taste has some light chocolate underlying everythign else. There is some cinnamon and also a mild citrus notes. Overall, a decent brew that is a little bit spicy. jefcon (820), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jun 14, 2008 Ruddy, deep brown in color with a small, diminishing head. Aromas of lavender, ginger, candy sugar, and honey. Juicy and lemony on the first bite, lots of sugar, then a souring drying finish. Odd beer. decaturstevo (1124), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jun 10, 2008 Very spicy with a little perfume like aroma. Slightly hazed brown pour with tan head and lace. A very sour flavor that changes to a tart bitter. Thin and foamy. A beer that tastes no where near as good as it smells. ChainGangGuy (1444), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 2, 2008 Appearance: Pours a hazy, dark brown body with a full, frothy, beige-colored head.
Smell: The nose is a disorderly heap of odd notes: smoked berries, herbs, menthol, shaved ginger, and spice. Heavens!
Taste: Sourish malt flavor initially. Then, you get some berries, spice, and a mild ginger taste. Gnarled wood bark bitterness. Slight acidity. Some mentholyptus. It gets a bit twangy midway. Spicy, lightly btiter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonaton.
Drinkability: For me, it was a mess as it never really came together for me. Ah well! Shag (1750), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA May 31, 2008 A dark brown appearance with a beige head. This smells like a Halls cough drop. Well a chocolate covered Halls. The flavor is rather sour with some mint, ginger, chocolate, and nutmeg. The palate was quite watery. Not sure what the goal was here, if to make a crazy ass beer that kind of sucks they accomplished that!
