| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 7, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at 1st Borefts Beer Festival. Cloudy chestnut coloured with a good beige head. Really tasty caramel malt with something I can only liked to smoky chorizo notes. The smoke is a little too restained for me but it’s no big issue. Lovely delicate bitterness in the finish balances it well. Good stuff.

Pours deep brown with a small, creamy film head. Aroma has roasted malts, light smoke and a fair amount of sweetish caramel. Highish carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Flavour is dry, ashy, hard roasted and light chocolate. Perhaps it is just a tad too dry and ashy, but still is rather tasty. I didn’t really get an awful lot of smokiness on the nose or in the mouth for that matter, but putting that aside its a very nice beer, good tart bitter edge, some citrus, bit of fruit. Nice stuff.
