Bottel @ 1ste Borefts. A hazy red/brown colored beer, with a small beige head. The aroma of fruits with a little smoke and some bitter. The taste is bitter with smoke. There is fresh fruit with some caramel. The aftertaste is bitter with some smoke.

Dec 30, 2009 Bottle@Home. Lightly smoked aroma mixed with raisin, prune and toffee. Brown colour, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, bitter, smoked, light fruity, light bodied. Hops used don’t go well with the smoke. It’s more like a Dubbel than a Bock. Could use some body and a bit more sweetness.

Dark maroon with a light tan head just at the rim, and good lacing.
Aroma of subtle smoke, pine sap, and burnt caramel.
Malts are dominant, smoke some in late during the slightly bitter finish. Nicely complex.
M: Medium body.
D: Creative entry for the bokbier festival, a nice beer overall.

Dec 20, 2009 Small huge head over very deep-brown beer with reddish/chestnut sheen. Lighlty smoked, but especially phenolic nose, smoking wood, medicinal, hint at sweet molasses. Phenolic, nearly salty flavour, smoked mackerel, and - strange but true - fresh cucumber flavour; some more usual malts in the background, but no trace of the molasses the nose suggested. Not very well-bodied, even a bit light for what, after all, is presented as a Rauchbock; well-carbonated MF. Nice, but not exactly the most exciting Rauchbier I’ve had.

Dec 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours a slightly murky tootsie-roll color with a great fizzy dene off-white froth. Aroma is quite bright, juicy, crisp hoppy/smokey, brown sugar, bright fruits, light pineapple, I like bright smelling beers. Flavor is tangy, brown sugar, light smoke, mostly a metallic earthy brown sugar and pineaple flavor, quick finish with a lingering metallc bitterness. medium/light bodied with fantastic crisp but soft fizzy carbonation, fairly dry feeling. Hides the 6.7 very well Surprisingly, this beer hits the spot for me, very drinkable, not very smokey but just right.

Dec 5, 2009 Tasted at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Black/brown colored brew. Aroma is smoky, malty. Flavor is sweet malty and smoked. A bit fruity. Enjoyable.

Nov 27, 2009 Bottled. Cloudy brown color, medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, chocolat, bit nutty, slight yeast, hint of smoke. Bitter taste, roasted, smokey. Decent balance in smokedness, bitterness and malt for a bokbeer. Nice.
