| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 18, 2009 33cl bottle bought at the brewery shop during the pre-Zythos event. Thanks to thewolf, Rene, as I wouldn’t have bought a bottle unless he’d asked for one in a trade. Black as far as I can work out or very dark brown, thin beige head. Mixed dried spices hit the aroma first off. Yes there are some smooth dark fruits in the body and some juiciness. The spice reappears on the finish. Bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. The spice isn’t too dominant and there is room for some good jammy blackcurrant and blackberry in there. Even cranberries. Only a touch of sourness, but it is there on the sides of the tongue and builds in the finish. I don’t normally like spiced beers, but this one has balance and the juicy fruits are really likeable. Yep, a good beer. The sour dryness on the finish stops it getting out of hand. Decent stuff. MiP (9087), Sønderborg, Denmark

Pours very dark brown; almost black. Fine creamy, beige head, but is disappears rather quickly. Wonderful spicy aroma behind plums, raisins and roasted malts. There is fine cinnamon, cloves, ginger and some light yeast. Medium carbonation, fine mouthfeel, even though I’d expected it to be fatter and more porter-like. Flavour is lightly sourish to begin with, some light roasted malts. There is fine spiciness, lightly peppery, lots of cinnamon. Light bitterness. joergen (8601), Frederiksberg, Denmark
