Hazy orange amber with some fine brown chunks and a three finger rocky off-white head, good retention. Fair noble and floral hop aroma, sweet caramel malts, plenty of fruity yeast, and light peppery alcohol. Flavor had the caramel malts turning old and dusty. There were also some tangy off notes that weren’t so great, either. Still quite yeasty, but I don’t see how the beer could have anywhere near the IBUs that it claims--not really that bitter (3-4 out of 10). Medium body with lots of carbonation. I’m mimicking BeerBelcher here with not recommending it, and saying that if it tasted how it smelled, it’d be good. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 7, 2007 This is supposed to be one of the "hoppiest beers in Belgium," and while it smelled quite nice and hoppy, the flavor was a bit of a disappointment.
Appearance was a hazy amber that looked to me like many APAs/American IPAs I’ve tried. The exception to this resemblence was the towering puffy-cloud head this beer had. Aroma was a dry-hop smell balanced with sourness, and smelled terrific. Unfortunately, taste and mouthfeel disappoint; mouthfeel was watery and taste was very malty with an unpleasant sour aftertaste. If only it tasted like it smelled.
Not recommended. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 4, 2007 A hazy,orange-hued body with a generic, one-size-fits-all head. The aroma is somewhat fruity, but it has some band-aids-like qualities to it as well. The flavor is kind of sour and tart. Very dry, bitter finish. notalush (2689), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 4, 2007 After having a positive experience with their imperial stout, I’ve decided to give this one a shot, despite people advising me otherwise - cloudy orange/gold beer, with a slight foamy ring - strong, sweet orange and apricot aroma, with light perfume and flowers and a slight metallic character - high but somewhat soft carbonation - strong bitterness combines with a vegetable and citrus pulp flavor, but in ways that do not compliment each other well - citrus tanginess, and a belgian fruitiness that the hops don;t fare well with - they need to take a lesson from la chouffe or guldenberg on how to make a hoppy belgian ale - I should have listened. Taste is sharply bitter, and briskly carbonated with a vegetal hop aftertaste. $4.25/11.2 oz Edmoe (130), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Pours a really light amber color, with a monster, foamy, off white head. Forms a mountain and just stays there. Smells of Belgian yeast, sweet malts, and some sweet fruits. Pretty nice aroma. The flavor was much the same, but with a profound spice character to it. Almost peppery and slightly bitter. Still malty with some dark fruits, but the aftertaste was all spice and bitterness. Interesting brew to say the least. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
