Muddy light brown color with a light tan, soft peak egg white looking head. sweet malt with some lactic and spice qualities. Hints of cinnamon and light fruit grow as it sets. Big, thick sheet of lace left on the side of the glass after the first hit. LIght sweet caramel start. Alcohol is quite evident from the start. Quite bubbly in feel. Light lactose and hints of roasted malt weave in and out. Seems more like a foreign stout or perhaps a belgian strong. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2008 Pours a very dark murky amber with a large but light & fluffy head which nearly flowed right out of the bottle before I started pouring. I smell Kirsch - sour cherries, a touch of cocoa. Too light to really be of consequence. Ok, this is NOT a stout. It is a strong Belgian ale, but nowhere near stout. That said, I do like it! Loads of cherries, sweet spices, candi syrup, slightly sour finish, alcohol is well-hidden. I have issues with the excessive carbonation, though - difficult to taste through all these tactile bubbles. Creamy but thin. This reminds me a lot of Unibroue Trois Pistoles, but slightly more subdued. Too bad about the carbonation, otherwise quite pleasant. Many thanks to SoLan for the trade! bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2008 Bottle Pours a deep semi translucent brown with a foamy/carbonated off-white head. Nice toffee aroma. Sweet toasted chocolate flavor with a slight bitter after taste. Overall not bad, more of a straight Belgian taste to me and not so much a stout. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2008 This is really nice. Light amounts of roasted maltiness, some licorice, and chocolate covered raisins, light bits of toffee sweetness, mixed with some spices from the yeast. Pretty rich and creamy mouthfeel. As it warms you also start to get some other flavors arising, like some tart sour fruit flavors. thewolf (5827), Kolding, Denmark

Pours deep brown with a fine, medium off-white head. Aroma is a bit weak, some dark dried fruits and light coffee. Medium carbonation, very creamy. Flavour is nicely sweet, good yeasty character amongst chocolate, light coffee and raisins. Rather dry and chocolatey finish. Not as impressive as I’d expected, but still, Man U is in front 0-1, with Chelsea still at 0-0. grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 8, 2008 Medium brown, a bit of a gusher coming out of the bottle. Big-bubbled head dies down quickly, leaving a medium-brown beer with lots of chunks in it. Aroma is roasted barley, vague and weak chocolate and coffee, and a bit of sourness. Flavor is moderately sour and overcarbonated, lightly roasty, fruity and full of booze. Little interesting malt character. Maybe I’m rating this a bit lower than I might just because it call itself an imperial stout, but regardless, it’s just not a very good beer. Have to agree with estoppel here. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | May 5, 2008 Bottle. Dark reddish-brown body, medium tan head, fruity, slightly funky aroma, all sorts of junk floating in the body. Sourish, fruity, some late roastiness. Very thin body for the style. Pretty bad and a good argument for the proposition that imperial stouts are, in fact, overrated on this web site. I cannot imagine how this crap got a 3.65 as of this writing. chimplechamp (465), Oslo, Norway
