Draft - A different take on imperial stout. This imperial stout relies much more on the candied sugar and cream flavor than burnt malt and hops. Too sweet for me.

A THICK FOAMY HEAD, WITH A FRUITY SMELL AND A DARK COLOR. SLIGHT FRUIT TASTE ALONG WITH HINTS OF COFFEE AND CARAMEL. AN EXCELLENT BEER A MUST TRY.

Not what I expected from an Imperial Stout. Caramelly, frothy, a bit like a tripel. A good start for a night of beers.

2008-04-04. Black Label, not sure if that means anything. Murky dark brown body with a band of lighter brown between the dark core and a modest beige head that fades but is revived. Very muted aroma, light dusty malt, extremely muted roast. Weird fruity notes as it warms up. Tangy malt flavour, lightly sour undertones, and light notes of wood if you look for them. Floral-spicy-bitterness with a sour yeasty finish that is a bit wonky. Average palate. Strange. Bottle from Délices et Caprices, Brussels.

Bottle, shared with and courtesy of Mabel and Jerc, from their recent Belgium trip. Weird fruity, musty, sweet, hay aroma. Dark brown, small bubbly brown head. Yeasty sour taste, some malt, dark fruits. Medium to thin. Not crazy about most Belgian Imperial Stouts and this one was likely a little past its prime.

Black with thin head. Aroma is a bit of sour fruit. Taste isn’t sour at all. Heavy roast and strong alcohol. Light bitterness. Dark fruit. Dry finish. Enjoyable, but could stand to smooth out.

Big head on a brownish colored beer. Sweet and alcohol in the aroma. Thicker body. Good burp. Sweet in the taste with some caramel and roastiness.

(2/28/08) Draught sample at PreZBF@Alvinne in Heule. Dark brown to black color with light brown head. Roasty, malty aroma with chocolate and some licorice. Sweet powerful flavor with chocolate, some coffee and caramel. Finishes sweet with light roastiness. A bit of alcohol presence as well. Medium to full body. Too mild and not complex enough for such a big stout.
