Obviously different from American Imperial Stouts. Refreshing, yet alcoholic. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Aroma of red wine, fruity, slight medicinal, some roasted malt. Strong like a strong red wine, fruity, quite alcoholic. CaptainCougar (5520), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Pours a barely transparent murky dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly roasted sweet caramel malt and some doughy Belgian yeast. Body starts with a full, bready sweet dark caramel and chocolate flavor along with some dark fruits and raisin complexity. A unique and enjoyable imperial stout. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Pours a amber brown color with no head. Aroma is malty, brown sugar, and a hint of sour milk. Flavor is malty, molasses, and long creamy finish. Cornfield (4964), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 The body is a very dark brown capped by a large, rocky tan head that laces in sheets. It has a rather quiet aroma, sweet roasted malt, aniseed, molasses, and some millk chocolate. The latter vanishes froim the robust flavor, but there’s still plenty of sweet dark malts, roasted malt, licorice, and alcohol to go around. The alcohol gets a bit too prominent near the finish, but it was appreciated while watching the latest presidential debates.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Bottle from State Line in MD. Pour is dark brown with a huge, sudsy tan head that overflows onto my carpet and later in the sink. Damn, Ive had a lot of gushers lately. Aroma is nice and a little more subdued that most of the big, bad, bold american imperial stouts. Toasty, roasted malts, cocoa, a little coffee. Flavor is slightly sweet, yet refined with nice dry roasted malt and dark chocolate notes, followed by a little bit of coffee and hop bitterness. Some tartness comes through in the yeast which seems to meld well with the rest of the beer. A nice, different, imperial stout. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England

Hints of fruity yeast, alcohol reasonably restrained. As expected on the sweet side but remains reasonably drinkable. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

A Bizarre ’Stout’ But Nice in its Own Right.
