Notes of spices, and chocolate, with a light toasted caramel malt character, fruity esters and some light etoh coming through a bit chewy but the finish is long and bitter oddly enough. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Bottle.Huge fizzy tan head with good retention, one ring of lacing, mostly opaque, and a brown hue. The aroma was roasty, malty, chocolate, coffee, sweet, sugary, and alcohol. Ditto for the flavor. Tingly mouthfeel and medium bodied. Nicely balanced, flavors came together very well, worthy of a try, and would drink again. dkachur (2372), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours a dark but clear reddish brown with a thin head. Candi
sugar, coffee and chocolate show up strongly in the aroma along
with some roasted malts. Taste is slightly tart, roasted malts,
caramel and toffee. Medium bodied. Quite interesting. Dedollewaitor (3736), Odense, Denmark

Pours dark brown with a small white bubbly head and lacings. Nose is sweet of milkchocolate, coffee and caramel. Some yeast makes it quite complex. Medium bodied. Smooth and syrupy. Low carbonation. Alcohol well hidden. Really tasty, would have liked the body a bit phatter and a tad more carbonated, but ok. Nice . . Travlr (727), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Very dark and dense. Aroma of milk chocolate and roasted coffee. Balanced malt and hops with a lightly bitter smoky finish. Subtle and superb. Praetorian (86), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 25, 2008 Dark brown in color with chunks of yeast and a small off white head. The aroma was of brandy, brown sugar and a bit of chocolate with an overpowering yeast overtone. The flavor was overly sweet and dominated by yeast with a note of rasins. The texture is syrupy. I really dont like this beer. Honestly, i drank just enough to rate it and poured the rest. It was sub par and weird. BMan1113VR (2883), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Not impressed. Vintage unknown. Gusher. Pours with a small dark brown head that fades. Yeast were upset by the gushing, and grossly peppered the first pour and ones following. Dark brown body with aforementioned yeasties. Aroma of candi sugar, brandy, milk chocolate, ash, very sweet with coconut milk. Taste is cloyingly sweet with fruits raisins and a strong yeasty astringency. Syrupy with alcohol and cloying...drain pour!
