ekstedt (2052), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 22, 2008 Bottle (25 cl) from Ølbutikken. Black with a moderate brown head. Salt liquorice, tar, and wood in the aroma. Medium bodied and smooth. Dry and salty. I am not impressed.
after4ever (1925), Brier, Washington, USA Nov 27, 2008 250. Thanks, Maria! Jet black. Caramel highlights. Headless. Laceless. Musty, mossy nose. Coffee and a bit of booze come through there as well. Prunes coming through in a huge way on top of that. Big creamy body. Coffee, prunes, salt, and smoke on the mid-palate. Long salty coffee finish. BMan1113VR (1162), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 27, 2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Batch 52. Pours thick with a black body and a quickly diminishing light brown head. Aroma of dirt, toffee, chocolate, something meaty (’unami’), and some alcohol. Taste is chocolate, some soot, barrel, and high proof alcohol. Light bubbles and an oddly dryish mouthfeel. mar (755), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 26, 2008 thanks to bullzeye. bottle#1056 batch 52 best before 2018. deep black pour with a thin caramel head. toffee, alcohol, chocolate, vanilla and wood on the nose. great thickness with an awesome finish of roasted malts, chocolate and wood. awesome skortila (2480), Bunnik, Netherlands Oct 23, 2008 Bottled. Same as Caesar. Aroma has vanilla, wood, cognac/port/bourbon, chocolate, licorice and roasted malts. Pitch black coloured with a short brown head. Its taste is bitter, sweet, has all the flavours mentioned in the aroma. Alcohol is noticeable, but doesn’t temper my enthousiasm. Fantastic brew. caesar (2654), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Oct 21, 2008 Bottled, bought in Vejle. Dark brown color, short lacing. Aroma of soft sweet candy, roasted malt, chocolat, cognac, port, vanilla. Delicious aroma, reminding me of Narke Kaggen! Taste is very alcoholic, but behind that is also soft sweet candy malt.
Bit alcoholic palate. Very nice stuff!
