Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

I’m not quite sure that any hyperboley I use is quite fitting enough. This is a king of beers. Firstly before any other remark I make I must emphasize how well controlled/hidden the alcohol is. This tastes no stronger in abv. than Mikkellers Beer Geek Breakfast which is around 7% On with the comment: Lovely almost oak like-vanilla aromas greet you from the glass, enticing and sensual. Definite coffee, bitter/sweet on the nose. Looks fantastic in the glass. Total black hole. Keeps a nice off white-grey-brown head. Palate is soft and smooth, but not at all sickly for an impy stout. Slight carbonation keeps it crisp with every sip you take. Flavour is almost rum-like, touch of sugar cane, dense roasted barley, sweet malt, more coffee (espresso) some ultra bitter dark choc. Quite an asertive hop pressence underneath all the roasted coffee notes. This beer is quite mind altering in it’s effects! Basically I love Mikkeller, and this beer basically hits perfectly a balance between the BG Breakfast and BG brunch at quite an affordable price. My first ever Amager beer and certainly not my last. Fantastic! Quite simply one of the best beers I have had the pleasure of tasting.

Had at Hophead22’s Imperial Stout Tasting. Thanks Tim. Dark brown with a fizzy off white head. Sweet malty chocolate aroma. Tastes of chocolate, and espresso with some chalky notes throughout.

yeah this is good shit! Pours almost a black color with a really nice tan head. Aroma is roasty and toasty with tons of chocolate, espresso and a bit of smoke. Flavor is loaded with bittersweet chocolate, prunes, roasted malt and finishes with a very satisfying bitterness. Damn nice.

Warm it shows cherry tar wood leather smoke, a grassy long dry hop-bitter finish. Great tall tan-foamy pour over blackish-brown coat & lighter brown highlights. Smell cocoa malts coffee rich and subtle Am drinking warm so I will cool it down to bring up the cocoa + coffee, and to dial back the strong yet round alcohol. Is a bit acidic and sour on the palate, very cleanly made and not sticky - truly distinctive - Flavor balances good hopping against any lingering sweetness, feel is solid and smoothie-like if you cool the beer a little bit! Drink it not too warm and the cocoa-velvety-coffee sensuality envelops. GOOD! I put it next to Nøogne Ø.

Bottle. Pours a ruby black with a thin brown head, and some decent bubbles. Nose is rich chocolate, raisin and alcohol. Flavors are very complex. Smoke, black licorice, coffee, anise. Mouth is creamy and smooth. Great upper tier IRS.

muddy black-brown body with a creamy light brown head, bumpy at the surface. aroma is sweet & dark chocolate malt, dried prune, some faint vanilla, and licorice. flavor starts with smooth chocolate roasted malt, some salty licorice, then burnt bitter hop. a little acidic like Starbucks coffee, and a lasting heavy bitter aftertaste.
