Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.

Bottle@Home. Strong aroma, chocolate, coffee. Opaque colour, brown head, good lace. Sweet, chocolate, coffee, pretty bitter. Full, warming - even burning - finish. Great stuff, sweetish all-it-needs Imperial Stout.

Bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Opaque black with medium tan head. Sweeter, roasty aroma with subtle hops, very thick smelling. Very green tasting, roast, bitter chocolate, real dry. Medium and watery body. Very tasty and farely intense. Maybe not the best beer of 2008 Gerrit, but pretty amazing none the less. Thanks for sharing!

Bottle from SL. The pour was pitch black in color, nice rich choco-tan-colored head, great retention and lacing. The aroma was rich roasty coffee, slight chocolate. The flavor followed the aroma, nice dry oatmeal character mixed in there, some roast, coffee, and faint chocolate/cocoa. Hops make an appearance in the finish along with the slight roastiness. Mouthfeel was full bodied, but not stick, cleaned up by the dry roastiness. A very nice brew, ya Danes!

Medium dark brown head. Opaque black body. Strong chocolatey coffee aroma with vanilla notes. Intense dry chocolate and coffee taste with cocoa and alcohol notes. Rounded, full body. Dry cocoa and (unreadable) aftertaste with alcoholic notes. Outstanding! (0.5l bottle, Ølbutikken, Copenhagen.)

500ml bottle served in a snifter. This beer poured a near black with a thick, creamy mocha head that quickly settled into a thin film of bubbles. Some very heavy lacing. The aroma included milk chocolate, moderate roast, chocolate covered cherries, sweet alcoholic phenols, and some citrus hops hiding underneath. Could use a little more roast character. The flavor had a fairly strong American hop presence. More than I would prefer. Oranges and grapefruit. Also some ashy roast, mild bittersweet chocolate, coffee, plums, and some caramelized sugar. The alcohol, while not as noticeable as in the aroma, provided a light warmth in the finish. The mouthfeel was full-bodied but fairly clean. Mild carbonation. A fairly well made stout, but the flavor didn’t really stand out to me. Decent.

Bottle acquired via trade with nimbleprop...THANKS ANDREW!!! Midnight pour exudes a 4-finger densely packed caramel head with solid lacing. Nose is campfire smoke, dark roasted coffee, and bitter chocolate. Burnt marshmallow, ash, charcoal, Godiva, Starbucks, and molasses. Hop profile is also evident and helps balance this one out. Very smooth drinker with no hint of the 10.5%. A very good beer.

Tasted during the Nor Cal Beer Geek Tasting on 3/11/2009. This Imperial Stout pours a deep brown black color from a 22oz(?) bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is coffee and chocolate, some hops. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are roasty, chocolate and coffee. The hops are citrusy. Nice carbonation. Fairly smooth tasting, yet there is a touch of alcohol bite. Good balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some alcohol.
