Commercial Description:
Editor's note: second batch of this was released August 9th 2008.

Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen's humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

Pours deep brown. Deep tan head. Deep and roasty and malty. Cold coffee, slightly grainy. A tad light on the palate, and a little hot on the finish. Maybe its a bad bottle, but Im not as impressed as I had hoped to be.

500 ml bottle. Pitch black. Medium-bodied dark brown head. Mellow roasted dark malt flavours. Thick malty flavours. Texture is complex and rich. A lot of chocolate and dark roasted coffee. This is balanced by piney sharp American hops. A very intense beer.

Pours beautiful deep brown with a thin, dark tan head. Coffee and chocolate in the nose, with the addition of some roasted malt in the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and slight bitter finish.

Dark beer, near-black, with a very nice beige head and lacing. Nose is lots of rich coffee, not quite as singular or intense as Mikkeller, but strong, beautiful, and balanced unlike Founders. Oat, salt, and some very minor hop citrus with warmth, then some sweet fruit. Lots of roast and cocoa in the mouth, the hop greener than the nose. Creamy palate, rather thin body for an impy, but the finish is really polished coffee, no astringency, and it lasts. Pretty drinkable and balanced for an impy, and given the strong qualities, that’s a nice surprise.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a huge dark brown color ahead with good retention and great lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some well balanced sweet malt with notes of black chocolate. Taste is well balanced with great notes of creamy black chocolates and roasted malt. Hops don’t play much of a role but body texture is creamy and well crafted with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Very well made overall but I was expecting more character based on previous rating.

Bottle. Ruby-black beer with a tan head. Chocolate aroma with light roast and vanilla. Rich roasty flavor with caramel and coffee. Fuller bodied. Roasty, coffee, and grain lingers with dark fruit and dark chocolate.

Bottle shared by stfun at the presex gathering ’09. Thanks Josh. Definitely in your face with chocolate, hops, alcohol, but not too over the top. Drinkable, but definitely a slow sipper. Enjoyable above average impy.
