Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.

Bottle at the Sexual Chocolate release party. One of the better Imperial stouts of the evening! Pitch black pour with a thick brown head and spotty lace. Big roasted malt nose. Creamy mouth-feel. Nutty up-front with long roasty bittersweet finish

Black colored with medium sized beige head. Rich aroma with roastiness dominating, vanilla and some bourbon also present. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also strongly roasted and caramelly. Vanilla also with vinous tone, which lasts in drying and hopped aftertaste.

Bottle at the Sexual Chocolate release party. The pour is opaque black with plenty of brown head. The nose is really nice with sweet cream and lots of roasted malt goodness. The flavor is mild at first, but finishes with a nice roasted bitterness. Its as easy to drink as any dry stout.

Batch Pours an extremely dark, inky, virtually black color. A massive, creamy, mocha colored head shows fantastic retention, and leaves thick, clumpy sheets of lacing all the way down the glass. Aromas are really nice, notes of bittersweet dark cocoa, freshly crushed espresso beans, burnt caramel, and roasted grains working together wonderfully. Rolled oats and traces of vanilla bean lend a bit of softness to the avalanche of roasty elements. Flavors are really well balanced, with sweetness, bitterness, roast and cream pulling in equal and opposite directions. The chocolate is deep and dark, almost like an 80% cocoa bar, but scorched caramel and oatmeal are there to smooth things out. The coffee components tastes really fresh, which makes me believe this brew is probably not great for aging. If there is on letdown, it is that the palate is slightly on the thin side for the style, but the balanced carbonation and well-hidden alcohol make up for it. Bitter chocolate, earthy hops, and roasted grains linger for a good while after the finish. This is an excellent beer.

Bottle shared by robert at SL. Dark black in color, good two finger sized toffee colored head. Weird aroma of rubbing alcohol??? Taste was coffee, oats, roasted malts and a touch of hops. But...it had a weird aftertaste of the rubbing alcohol....which ruined the beer for me. Thick in texture. Overall, dissapointed.

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A and Hannu N! Black with creamy dark tan head. Rich coffee aroma with also charcoal, chocolate, leather, methol and warming alcohol. Strongly roasty coffeish flavor with firm bitterness, charcoal, chocolate, nuts, vanilla warming alcohol and mentholy hops. Full bodied, with slight roasty astringency. Carbonation is a bit sharp, lower carbonation would match better with strong roastiness. Very roasty, a bit too roasty for me, but still very good.

My Bottom Line:
This pillowy and nourishing Imperial Stout is the setting for succulent coffee, oatmeal and dark chocolate biscuits, an osmosis which seamlessly morphs into roastiness and coniferous hops right before those most luxurious of cookies return. World-class, every way I look at it.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam sits atop the darkness.
-The mouthfeel is cushiony and full, but never heavy.
-The flavor profile offers exactly what the aroma had proposed.
-Alcohol is not much of a factor in the flavor profile.
-I preferred this to their "Imperial Stout", even though the latter is still very good.

Bottle; batch115, best before 07/2013.

Bottle shared by nqualls @ the Barrios tasting. Poured black with a creamy tan head that left light lacing. Roasty aroma with a slight hoppy background. The flavor also had roasty malts with coffee, chocolate and light hops to round it out. Medium to full body, sweet, with a light alcohol finish. Very decent.
