Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.

50 cl bottle. Pours an oily black color. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, fruit and some booze. Taste is about the same as the aroma, a bit to much booze for my taste but still a great beer!

Bottle shared by dickensonbeer. Deep brown black beer. Aroma is quite nice. Sweet malty aroma. Toasted malts, sweet and dark. Heavy salty/savoury character. Hops are fairly herbal and chewy. Heavy boozy flavour and aroma. The beer is quite intense and chewy but it doesn’t really work all that well for me.

50 cl bottle (batch 5, #22 of 400) shared by FlacoAlto - Pours a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, licorice, and dark esters. Flavor is also roasted malt, licorice, and dark esters with addition of a bit of coffee. Has quite the roasty aftertaste. Medium body. A good beer. Thanks Sebastian.

Bottle, courtesy Papsoe. Well done, sir. Pours pitch black, thick creamy head, creamy lacing. Big on alcohol in the nose, and big floral hops. Very distant roast. Flavor is big, full of roast, with a heavy body wrapped around licorice and alcohol. Very tasty. Huge body, so much full of roast and...body. Not sure why I wrote that down. But it’s great.

rbesg08 grand tasting, bottled. my palate was slightly impaired by this stage of the day, but this was tasty enough to make an impression. black with a steady light brown head, loads of roasted flavours - coffee, cocoa and burnt toast with some stewed pear sweetness, very bitter finish, excellent stuff

50 cl bottle. Pours a viscous pitch black body with a beautiful foamy and creamy chocolate brown head, excellent retention, with tons of heavy lacing. The nose is roasty with tons of licorice, bitter chocolate, coffee, light alcohol, and light leafy hops. It smells delicious. A little too overly roasty though, the flavor is loaded with burnt malt astringency. There is a light acidic twang on the finish that I do not care for as well. Not much in the way of chocolate or coffee, no smoothness or subtlety. The heavy handed hopppy finish is a bit metallic as well and really does not mesh well with the roast for me. Mouthfeel is fairly thick and oily with fizzy moderate carbonation. I wish that this was a lot creamier and softer. This is just one of my least favorite ways to do this style. Big astringency, metallic hops, then high alcohol? Not for me.

Bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer. Pours nearly opaque with a dense khaki head. The aroma is chewy with dark chocolate, a touch of licorice and tarry notes. Slick bodied with a very salty flavor. A bit mineral-like upfront as well, followed by a gritty bitter dark malt character. There is also lots of rich bitter dark chocolate into the tarry finish. Not bad, just seems like another gigantic Impy without subtlety.
