Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

[on tap at EBF 2008] Roasty sherry aroma with a little oak vanilla and notes of ethanol, hazelnut, and scotch tape. Thick black appearance with lasting, lacy foam. Flavour is a blast of warm, coffee, roast, vinous, almost red wine bitterness. Slightly medicinal. Medium body and dry with a lasting dark malt bitterness.

batch115. pours totally black, setles black with a brown head, rather thick. aroma: a little too weak compared to my expectations, but the aroma is great. coffee, licorice, roasted stuff. not much alc. flavor : extremely well balanced, roasted stuff, licorice, aftertaste bends the taste towards a combination of dark chocolate and roasted stuff. palate : bubbles up in my mouth a little, which i don’t like, but palate is rather good except for this. the fantastic balance makes it a joy to take sip after sip, trying to figure what different flavors are in there. still, i think there are better imp stouts that have lower ratings than this one.

Sampled @ Tucson Tasting. Good roasted chocolate aroma that hits the nose. Whis more interest for me any way was the black body and the vanilla swirle in the tan cramy head.. Good chocolate creamy flavor. A roasty coco aftertaste good stout. Thanks to either Sabastian or Craig for this one.

Bottled (thanks to Jeppe for keeping the beer for me). A blacka s pitch beer with a rich (for the style), and quite stable light brown head. The aroma is powerful and has notes of roasted malts and chocolate. Well hopped for an impy. Some traces of alcohol. The flavour has amore than a moderate sweetness and has also more than average acidity for the style. More notes of coffee than in the aroma and very roasted. Medium to full body, lively carbonation, very long finish with heavy coffee bitterness and some alcohol burn in your throat. Very creamy, hoppy with a touch of acidity. Quite strange but has its personality.

A pleasant aromatic scent of fresh brewed Colombian coffee. Tastes like coffee/oatmeal stout with a hint of bourbon.

Sampled at EBF08. Pitch black with a large, fluffy, beige head. Dark and roasted aroma with chocolate. Fullbodied with creamy chcolate, coffee and cocoa. Pretty harsh bitterness.

(Bottled) Pitch black with a medium-brown, firm and medium, lasting head. Aroma of lots of malt, licorice and coffee, with a hint of burnedness and salt. Very smooth maltiness hits you in the flavor, with the intense, balancing bitterness following shortly. Also lots of coffee, some salty licorice, and a very dry, but not over-burned finish. Hides the alcohol nicely. Quite full, slicky-smooth body with soft carbonation. Better balanced and more enjoyable than Amager’s Imperial Stout. A beauty! (Draught@Pikkulintu) Slightly burned, but otherwise an extremely enjoyable Impy! Bottle is better, though.
