Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.

Appearance: Pours an onyx black body with a frothy, dark tan head. Smell: Rich, inviting aroma of sweetish dark malts, licorice, and unsweetened chocolate with hints of roast and smoke. Taste: Dark maltiness fulled by a knee-buckling punch of roasted, freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate. Medium sweetness. Faint dark fruitiness. Earthy, roasty bitterness. Hint of smoke and licorice candy. Some squares of caramel floating in there, too. Roasty, sweet, warming finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: It’s fabulous in oh-so many ways.

Bottle. Thanks to BrianK for sharing this roasty treat. Pours a black body with a mild tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate malt coffee and bozzy. Flavor is a dry roasty chocolate with a moderate etoh warming in the finish. Probably the best stout i’ve had to date from denmark and subsequentally im probably overrating this.

Opened for my 25th birthday. Huge roasty character which absolutely predominates. Pretty intense if you ask me. This beer really wasn’t for me but was not a bad beer by any means.

Thick black pour with a creamy light tan head. Smell is some grain alcohol and malt but almost a tart malt (not a chocolatey malt). Flavor is ashy and a hint of chocolate. Mouthfeel is interesting. Medium body. Drinkable, glad I got to try this. Thanks Mike!

Bottle generously shared by miketd. Thanks dude!
Pours black with a light, thin tan head. Smell is rich roasty and hoppy. Very nice and balanced. Very hoppy, roasty and sharp flavor. Somewhat medium to rich bodied with soft carbonation. Very solid beer.

A black apperance with a nice tan head. The aroma contains a bit of alcohol along with some chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and licorice. Some smoke up in the nose. The flavor is quite sweet and warming. It contains some chocolate, coffee, raisins, licorice, and molasses. My only complaint is the alcohol is very apparent. The finish is somewhat bitter. Overall a nice dessert beer!

Bottle shared by miketd at lb4lb’s tasting. Poured an opaque black color with a thin beige head that receded to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, some roast, and some dark fruit and alcohol. Flavor consists of dry, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt with light coffee hints, a light undertone o dark fruit and a sharp, bitter finish that didn’t fit the beer very well. Full, but chalky and dry mouthfeel that was offset by a bitter finish. Decent, the finish just didn’t work for me.

In short: A big, very big fruity sticky Imperial Stout. Very good.
How: Bottle (500ml?), shared by tertons with sunevdj and I. Age of bottle unknown but this was almost one year after the beer release (only one batch?). Thanks a lot Nelson!
The look: Bladk body with a long-lasting medium tan head.
In long: Last beer of night, minimal notes. Very sticky body, alcohol apparent, very fruity (all kinds of dark fruits), distant chocolate, medium-high sweetness level. More assertive hops for a better balance and we’d have something here. Still very good. I’m surprised by the very high ratings on this one. I’m not saying the beer didn’t meet my expectations, nor am I saying that it surpassed my expectations, actually I had no idea this beer even existed until it was poured into my glass.
