Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

Thanks to Yesper, JK, hellomynameis. The beer was opaque black with brownish head. It poured like motor oil. Mild hops, burnt malt, coffee, chocolate, and alcohol were present in the aroma and flavor.

Batch 5 bottle shared with Justin...4/12 in c-bad. Thanks a lot to the UGH----SMASH for sending this my way many months ago. This beer is just SICK!!!

This stout really blew me away, expectations surpassed by a longshot. At least a year on it as this was just retired. Just a picture perfect appearance, almost a joke how appetizing this looked - really should get a 6 - fat, fat, fat, sticky, coating the sides of the glass. Looked like a darker step child of a westy. Nose was a bucket full of mesmerizing milk chocolate, vanilla, & assorted nuts. Flavor showed bittersweet dark chocolate, a dash of oatmeal, and a HUGE and lengthy roasted character. The mouthfeel on this beer was silly big - as full bodied as you can possibly imagine...really unbelievable - this matches the big bodied appearance. Finish is longggg, bitter, dry, roasty, and flat out amazing. This beer manages to stay huge without becoming too much. One of the more enjoyable beers in recent memory - while it stays pretty straightforward in the big picture, what it does it does very very well ... damn!

Bottle, shared generously by jarspag for the April 12 D-Metal in Carlsbad. Thanks brosef! This bad boy was a standout brew for sure. Really delicious. Pitch black color with an oily texture, with a massive dark brown head developing and frothy maroon lacing around the glass edges. Looks kill with this beer. Aroma is a fat black chocolate bomb with ground coffee bean, figs & currant with charred wood and heavy use of oats and black malts. Creamy vanilla coffee flavor with bitter dark chocolate, oatmeal, grassy hops; all very well-rounded and balanced. Insanely smooth and chewy palate, creamy mouthfeel. Fantastic body with a warming alcohol finish.

Wow! This is one amazing stout. Pours pitch black. Such a full bodied stout, lots of chocolate, slight licorice and plenty coffee. Almost like Avery Mephistopheles little brother.

Aroma is a huge rich coffee, some alcohol, dark chocolate and brazil nuts, black, with a medium sized dark cappuccino head. Full roasted malt flavour, strong coffee, dark chocolate and a trace of liquorice. Full bodied, tongue tinglingly bitter. Superb! Thanks radiomgb!

Thanks so much Maria. In a word, a cup of decent coffee. Above average mouthfeel, black as coffee. Its very good as long as you realize what it is trying to do. However I am not a coffee drinker, and prefer the other qualities of an RIS, but I am respecting that they accomplished what they intended. It is drinkable and smooth (for a coffee beer).

500ml, thanks to after4ever! I guess we’re drinking this one a little young, according to the bottle we should have waited a year, but patience is over-rated. Pours clear black with a lacy brown head. Chocolate and dark fruit nose. Medium body and light carbonation. Seems a little rough at first taste, but calms down pretty quickly - letting it sit for a bit civilizes it noticeably. The recommended aging would probably work even better - ah, well. Lots of little niceties in the taste, which is a pretty good match for the nose, but adds nutty molasses, coffee and smoke. A tasty RIS!

500. Batch 5. Bottle 50/400. Thank you so much, Maria! What an amazing score! Totally phenomenal beer.
Pours so close to black it’s probably not worth arguing about what other color it might actually be--ebony, maybe, but come on. This beer is black. Thick piles of brown creamy mousse, looks like carpeting from the Nixon era. Serious pile shag. Big pocks appear and it settles down to a volcanically rocky mass as it drops. Looks stunning.
Big roast and plum nose with tons of underlying fruit complexity--dates and figs and other bits of dark pitted tree products. This beer definitely improves as it warms a bit and decants; it was harsh and bitey right at first. And, to be totally honest, the label suggests not drinking it until next spring. Oh, yeah, right--like I was gonna actually wait that long.
Creamy body on the high side of medium. Definitely a testament to restraint: with this much alcohol, aroma, flavor, and head, the fact that this beer doesn’t make you feel like flossing your teeth between sips says a lot about the brewer’s skill. Lots of different flavors on the mid-palate: smoke, roast, black bread, ash, plums, dates, figs. This is a seriously phenomenal impy. Long, slightly boozy but mostly roasty finish.
