Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

500. Batch 5. Bottle 50/400. Thank you so much, Maria! What an amazing score! Totally phenomenal beer.
Pours so close to black it’s probably not worth arguing about what other color it might actually be--ebony, maybe, but come on. This beer is black. Thick piles of brown creamy mousse, looks like carpeting from the Nixon era. Serious pile shag. Big pocks appear and it settles down to a volcanically rocky mass as it drops. Looks stunning.
Big roast and plum nose with tons of underlying fruit complexity--dates and figs and other bits of dark pitted tree products. This beer definitely improves as it warms a bit and decants; it was harsh and bitey right at first. And, to be totally honest, the label suggests not drinking it until next spring. Oh, yeah, right--like I was gonna actually wait that long.
Creamy body on the high side of medium. Definitely a testament to restraint: with this much alcohol, aroma, flavor, and head, the fact that this beer doesn’t make you feel like flossing your teeth between sips says a lot about the brewer’s skill. Lots of different flavors on the mid-palate: smoke, roast, black bread, ash, plums, dates, figs. This is a seriously phenomenal impy. Long, slightly boozy but mostly roasty finish.

Bottle thanks to Papsoe. Lots of chocolate and roasted malts in the aromas. Very enticing. Flavor fell off just a bit as it gave up some of the sweetness in place of strong bitter black coffee flavors. Still very very good.

Deep black in colour, average sized tan coloured head, great lacing. The aroma was of dark chocolate, roasted malts, light alcohol, chalky, light smoke, lightly sweet. The flavour is of chocolate, some coffee, quite roasty but at the same time quite smooth, creamy turning bitter. Highly bitter malty mouthfeel, medium/large body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, lots of chocolate, chalky, very bitter. Very big, intense, roasty. Definitely packs a punch.

500ml bottle obtained in trades with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>TheCheeseMan, and <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>MPA. Thanks Dan and Mads-Peter.

From X-mas package sent by Papsoe (thanks), shared with Doggythedog.
Pours a deep black colour with medium sized brown head and milk chocolate nose. Strong chicory, roasted coffee and dark chocolate taste with salty and alcohol notes. Strong bitter aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of Papsoe (a huge thanks!) and shared with ozujsko
Pitch black body, thick brown head, good retention. Milk chocolate, coffee and chicory in the nose. Aggresive, strong taste, thick body. Chicory, pleasant agrumey notes (lemon-lime)... odd for an IS. Salty and bitter, some alcohol. (in the afteratste too) a good, no, great flawless imperial stout. Very, very nice and worthy of its reputation.

[879-20071201] 500mL (Xmas Party 2007, beerhugger & guests). Boozy roasted malt aroma has a bit of chocolate. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Bitter roasted coffee malt flavour has roasty hops. Full body has a stinging quality to it. Really nice but a little single dimensional.
