Commercial Description:
Bitterhed: 81 IBU

English: When poured into the glass you will instantly sense that Hr. Frederiksen is a gentleman with both potency and a huge personality. Dark as Hr. Frederiksen’s humour, this imperial stout is inspired by the American imperial stouts with its dense and creamy light brown head that leaves nice lacings in the glass while the head reluctantly dissipates. We are willing to admit that we went crazy with the malts in this beer. A massive 8 different types of malts were used, and it is the dark and heavily roasted ones that give the beer its colour and almost extreme full body - this is almost a meal in a bottle. The bitterness is also delivered by the heavily roasted malts backed up by the American Centennial hops. Oh yes, Hr. Frederiksen is an experience which should be enjoyed slowly, but in return he will last all night warming you with his alcohol and challenging charm.
We have named this beer after a good friend, without whom, Amager Bryghus would not be what it is today.
Bitterness: 81 IBU

Bottle from trade with Sprinkle. Thanks Mike! Pours a black color with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, oak and vanilla. Taste of coffee, roasted malts, over ripe fruit, and dark chocolate. Some bitterness in the finish.

Pour is excellent with a black body and just hints at dark brown highlights up to the light; head is tan, full, mostly lasting, pillowy, and very frothy while leaving tight lace rings all around. Notes is a little faint but very pleasant with plenty of port notes, blueberries being prominent, lots of cake-like notes, some light espresso, light toffee, and some burnt caramel. Flavor is a deceptively roasty and bitter beer hiding underneath the sweet, rich malty notes which begin the progression; cake, burnt caramel, similar blueberry notes, and light chocolate syrup to begin but eventually the espresso, dark breads, dark chocolate, and floral hops make their presence known lingering into the finish. Palate is creamy, almost lively, mildly warming, nearly full, and drying in the finish. Finish is drying a bit with espresso, dark chocolate, and burnt caramel. A very good Imp with a lot of malt richness and complexity and a deceiving roast and moderately high bitterness. Incredibly drinkable and scary at the ABV and nice to be able to experience both malt complexity and intense hop and roast bitterness in the same beer. My only complaint with the beer is the European-esque nose and the faint cardboard notes. Very good beer from a very good brewery.

Bottle at PIB. Pours a deep brown, almost black with a solid tan head. Smell is hefty on roasted notes, with chocolate, dark fruit, coffee. Flavor much the same, dark roast, chocolate and coffee vying with dark fruit and some vanilla. A nice bitter but also slightly boozy finish. Very tasty brew, one of the better of the festival for me.

Beautiful pour. Pitch black with a big, dark, burnt-mocha head. Lots of chocolate and molasses on the nose, overshadowing the roasty coffee notes. Some vanilla, and a bit of booze. Far more coffee in the flavor, which isn’t nearly as thick as I’d hoped. Had a bunch of potential, and it’s very good, but this could have been fantastic. The booze comes through, and it lacks body. Really nice on the nose, but it’s (gently) downhill from there.

Bottle from City Beer. Nose is rich chocolate coffee beans. COlor i a flat, intimidating jet black. Flavor is hugely full and prickly: more coffee, dark chocolate, sweet roast that is somehow kind of burnt, but not annoyingly so. Light spice, light vanille. Giant, minerally and full, but not dirty Danish - no mud, a smooth finish that is also long. No green grape skin. I want more.

Dark brown in color with a good tan head. The smell is roasty, chocolate, prunes, coffee, dark fruits. Solid. The taste is roasty, malts, chocolate, coffee, and dark fruits. Good.
