My first San Marinoian beer. I’m also pretty sure that Marinoian isn’t word. At any rate, thye said this was a Scottish style, and it did seem to have some earthy, peaty notes, but that my just be the power of suggestion. Nice rye character, too. Bready and toasty. Raleigh WBF

Stale ashtray burn malt aroma. Murky brown red colour with poor head and lacing. Stale malt flavour. Flat palate. Too bad the bottle is great but the flavour leaves a lot to be desired.

500 ml flip top. Great looking bottle. Mahogany. Aroma is light, and I couldn’t get a head on this. Body is in fact quite low in the carbonation (which I like). Also a bit thin though, given the ABV. Overall, a sweet beer, vaguely of cherries and maybe raisins. Low hopped. Forget about the style. Tasty and easy to guzzle, but not at all worth the price.

500 ml flip-top bottle. Any beer that is called "The Whore" deserves to be tried once! Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin off-white head that disappeared after two or three sips and left virtually no lace. Pleasant aroma of malt and not much else. The flavor is dominated by the malt, and I can also taste the barley grain itself in this beer. However, none of the sweetness or richness of barley grain comes through in the flavor (or maybe I’m just spoiled by my wife’s cooking!) The finish is short and a bit dry. Worth trying, but I don’t know that I would go back to it.

These beers have been pretty ubiquitous in my area for a while now, so I figured I’d finally give one a try - I guess I should have checked the ratings first - oh well - this one pours a clear dark amber with a small, soapy lace - the aroma is a little musty and earthy/vegetal with some medium sweet, rather indistinct maltiness, and a little bready character - a bit of root vegetable flavor up front, followed by some metallic character - behind this are some burnt sugars, light floral character, and a little bit of fruitiness, which is also quite indistinct - finishes a little watery, with some light grainy quality - pretty darn boring, but that won’t keep me from drinking all 50cl of this garbage (not at 7 bucks a bottle).
