Recommended by the staff (Shadi) at the Waterhuis, this was a nice brown ale that was hoppier than most. Good choice.

Bottle, in the shrine-like miraculous basement at De Bierloods. Dark and dubbelish pour capped with creamy beige receding to a slick. Nose brazen Brett-like edge, Orvalish freshness peppered with pollen and floral hops. Rose, lily, lavender, farmyard. Trappist-like nuts and choc. Big yeast presence, blanket of horse. Chocolate, nuts, fresh bread. Slick dark Trappist character (Westmalle Dubbel?) with spontaneous touches. Got to get hold of another bottle of this.

Bottle. [thank you, Harissoni]</b<
Pours a nice, red-brown with a medium, creamy, beige head. Aroma has lots of raisins, some oakiness, chocolate, plums and a great yeasty note. A good, frothy, lightly creamy, mouthfee - just a tad on the thin side, perhapsl. Flavour has good chocolate, yeast and a good deal of dried fruits. Nice.

7,5% ABV, according to the bottle label. Dark brown color. Caramel and coreander in the aroma. Caramelly sweet flavor with ginger, coreander, mint, vanilla and anis. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Sticky mouthfeel.

Bottled, 330ml at Waterhuis aan de Bierkant, Ghent. Dark brown, black with cream head. Malty, sweetish beerreally quite fruity, with sucrose notes. Quite heavy on the palate with a little late hop. Not bad at all.

Dark brown beer with a beige creamy head. best consumed before july ’08 (just in time). Taste was medium sweet and very fruity. Also berries in the nose. It reminded me to Filliers bessenjenever

An interesting dubbel with nice hoppy character. Poured from 33 cL as Drongens Plezierke, bought at Beer Planet in Brussels. Very dark brown beer with red highlights, nice tan head. Nose is a blend of tart fruits and sweetish, slightly roasty malts. Flavor begins a bit tart before going fairly sweet, with a nice, moderate layer of bitterness kicking in and lasting into a dryish finish. Reminds me of a mini-Oerbier in some ways, the way it combines a little tartness with the dark malts and interesting yeast. Really a solid beer, I’d like to see it more available.
