Maria (3738), Thisted, Denmark May 9, 2008 From tap at the brewery. Hazy, warm golden with a small, dense head. The aroma has notes of fruity hops and malt. The flavour has a light sweetness with notes of malt. It’s a bit annonomous and IMO a bit stale and the bitterness is very low.
acrdz (4095), Pennsylvania, USA Jun 5, 2008 Draft at the brauhaus in Bamberg. Unfiltered bright yellow colored body, slightly hazy, with a white head and active, rising bubbles. Clean yeast and dusty fruit in the nose. Flavor of dry fruit, yeasty, chewy dough and fresh lemon, drying slightly in the finish. Tart fruit at times, other times somewhat sweet. Pretty good beer overall, no complaints from me. asheft (714), Marburg, Germany Mar 17, 2008 [on tap at brewpub]
Fresh hops and apricot aroma with some plums, strawberries, sweet malt, and a tiny hint of banana. Almost clear amber with a while flanel blanket on top that leaves nice lacing. Excellent malt flavour followed by some floral hops and medium bitterness. Quite biscuity. Medium body, good carbonation, a tad mouth coating. Ernest (4177), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2008 Draught, Ambräusianum, Bamberg.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers), with light notes of gum and mint.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Neat aroma, but too sweet (a trademark of this brewery). motelpogo (4086), Plzen, Czech Republic Oct 15, 2007 on tap at the brewery. exactly the same as every other new generation german brewpub helles - pretty pale with a faint white head, faint vanilla aroma, vague bitterness and some plain flour. i can’t believe anyone in bamberg actually goes to this place. during the 2006 world cup they seemed keen to stand out from the crowd by advertising themselves as wm-frei but all that achieved was to make the place as empty as it deserves to be for brewing stuff like this
