Hazy light brown with a modest but well sustained fizzy tan head, this ale has an aroma of toffee malt, brown sugar, yeast, and a healthy dose of aniseed. Soft and well carbonated in the mouth. The flavor is a sweet caramel/toffee with a hint of chocolate, yeast, licorice, pepper, and other spices. It finishes on an oddly sweet yet dry note, then leaves a touch of bitterness in the mouth. Nice.

Dark coppery color, medium yellow head. Chocolate, sweetness, mild alcohol and licorice in aroma. Medium bodied. Chocolate, toffee and mild coffee in flavor, also mild spices. Aftertaste lasts with mild alcohol and spices. Nice complex brew.

Pours cloudy, hazy honey orange with thick, dissipating tan head. Sweet bubblegum? aroma. Light alcohol flavor mixed with sweet malt and berry background. Thin watery palate.

Poured a medium to deep and hazy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of yeast and fruits. Tastes of sweet ripe apples with light yeast and light spices. Some caramel lurking in the background. Lively, but somewhat thin and almost watery body. Medium sweet.

cloudy dark copper colour under a big and very foamy beige head; fruity nose (pear and apple) with lingering buttery and vanilla notes; creamy mouthfeel, soem sweetness and medium-bodied; lively finish with more fruity and some yeasty notes - easy but pleasant

Best by 9/04: Pour is murky orangey amber with a thin dense off white head...huge toffee and biscuity malt in the nose...taste is tart and aggressive at first...tartness followed by a mellow sweet bitterness...aroma was much better than the rest of the beer...

(Bottled, BBE 09/2004 - 11 months ago) Opaque dark amber color with a medium, foamy and lasting, a bit lacy head. Toffee-caramely aroma with lots of acidity, some berries and something stingy (yet unidentified). Sweet, acidic flavor of unfermented malt, toffee and caramel, plus berries. Peppery, bitter and acidic finish. ABV well hidden. Medium-bodied, sweet and foamy-carbonated palate. One of the many brews Huyghe shouldn’t be that proud of. Strange it’s still so sweet way after the BBE date.

(Bottle 75 cl) This version from "Brasserie Duwac" in Mouscron. A beer brewed in celebration of Jacques Brel? Amber coloured with a huge but collapsing head leaving to traces. Flavour of caramel and some candi sugar. But certainly not a great beer. 310799
