a pretty decent beer, very roasty and a touch hot for now, though it will most certainly get better with age, much like BCS. Very rich and thick, nose of molasses, bourbon, cookie dough. color is deep with red around the edges. Nice.

pours a used motor oil black with a one finger stiff very dark brown head. aroma is strong bourbon, dark bitter bakers chocolate, and a little coffee. has a heavy body with good lacing and descent carbonation for this type of beer. flavor is the same as aroma. the 12% abv is well hidden just a little warming effect on the way down. not to bad at all. maybe needs a little bit more stout like qualities to mix a little more with the bourbon. everything sticks to the tongue for a while. i could probably only handle about 1-2 of these in one sitting though. as i said this about the founders bourbon Kentucky which i like more than this one, but again it is still a good beer.

Thanks to dough77 for this one. Poured black with dark brown head. Nose is bourbon, wood, and dark chocolate. Taste is alcohol, chocolate, and some smoke on the finish. I thought the bourbon was a little overpowering, but nothing like the BCS. Decent beer.

Rating # 500. Pours very dark with some carbonation and a very thin layer of tan film. Aroma is only oakey bourbon and semi bitter dark chocolate. Tastes pretty much how it smells. The bourbon over powers the rest when cool. As it warmed the bourbon faded slightly except in the finish. This batch was aged for about 15 mos in bourbon barrels. I think this needs to age on it’s own for another year at least. Worth investing at a couple 4 pax at the modest price of $10

Bottle. Pours a rich black color with a frothy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Taste of light oak. bourbon, roasted barley and chocolate with a light coffee presence. Full body and very smooth. HAs a nice creamy mouthfeel. Light hops and chocolatey vanilla bean flavor in the finish.

This poured black in color with a thin brown head that quickly faded. The nose showed aromas of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and peanuts. In the mouth it was rich and chocolatey with some bourbon-laced heat toward the finish. There was solid palate weight but the flavors came to a somewhat quick end. This was denser than I expected and overall a plesant surprise. If the bourbon was more integrated I would prefer it a bit more but as it stands it is a wonderful warming beer for the winter.

black with a slight tan head. the aroma was margarine, just margarine. the flavor was buttered nuts (who butters nuts?), some bourbon, and sweetness ranging from fruit to vanilla to chocolate. i can’t say i enjoyed this.
