| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2009 On tap at brewpub, December 26, 2008. Black with a small ring of a light brown head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and a bit of oak. Flavor is very alcoholic, tons of bourbon, chocolatey malts, molasses. Gingerbready finish with brown sugar and more molasses. Mouthfeel is velvety smooth, leave a slight carbonation bite at the end. A very sticky, sweet and giant beer. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Dark brown color with a huge woody nose that has some chocolate, cream, and burnt coffee. Flavor is big and chocolatey/roasty with an overwhelming woodiness that takes away more than it adds. Vanilla and subtle sweetness are ruined by too much booze. My suspicion is that A) The base impy stout is thin and mono dimensional and B) This one sat in the barrel too long. WeeHeavySD (3041), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 28, 2008 12oz bonus from BrianK, thanks for a cool bonus dude. Pours black with a light brown ring. Nose is sweet and boozy. Taste is heavy on the bourbon and light on the subtly. If you like bourbon youll like this it has way too much punch. Its not terrible, better than the 23.9 style percentage would suggest, but it pretty ridiculously hot at this point. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Ahhhhh...Sweetness. Dont ever doubt that we miss you, baby. We toasted this beer to you with our arms fully extended out to the side, holding our glasses like loaves of bread. You were the best. This beer, alas, is not. Black. Dense, creamy tan head. Intermittent lace. Big sweet chocolatey nose, but it smells kinda artificial. Thick, creamy, chalky body. Chocolate, coffee, and not much else--whats there tastes synthetic. And goes watery after a minute or two. It never gets it together. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Bottle. Black body with low carbonation. A pretty mainstream BA IS.. tangy black roast malt with raisin and bourbon sweetness layered on top. The low carbonation helps the mouthfeel feel more satisfying. Good! daknole (3027), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2008 Updated: Dec 6, 2008Bottle from strykzone, thanks Dave Black ass pour with a very small brown head. Aroma is full of bourbon and an odd roasted malt smell. Flavor hits you with bourbon and then you get an odd tart flavor followed by a pretty thin and poor stout. This one is not what it could be. Work on the underlying beer before any barrel aging.
