| A Scotch Ale brewed by Americas Brewpub Aurora, Illinois USA

JMerritt (1110), Macomb, Illinois, USA Feb 13, 2008 On tap in January 2008 @ my cousin’s wedding reception being held at Walter Payton’s Roundhouse. (This offering was simply named "Bourbon Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale" on the menu.) Red-amber in color, no head. Bourbon, vanilla, oak aroma, lots of caramel and toffee accompanying. Syrupy-sweet flavor, bourbon oakiness is most prevalent, with brown sugar and molasses notes. An absolutely delicious beer, well worth the $9/snifter.
Cornfield (4342), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2006 Here’s a brew to sit back with and to slowly enjoy. It pours a deep, clear reddish brown and is nearly bereft of head. The aroma begins with a warm Bourbon smell followed closely by rich malts, toffee with some butterscotch, a woodiness blended with peat smoke, and a big whollop of alcohol. Dangerously smooth too drink, the Boubon and Scotch flavors are skillfully blended while the peppery alcohol burns the tongue. A very warming drink with a malty, smokey finish and a cool alcohol burn. Very nice. Treated by Mike Rybinski, brewmaster at America’s Brewpub, Aurora, IL
