Originally had this while up judging the Drunk Monk Challenge, but have since had it again. Very interesting! It actually tastes like a light beer mixed with chocolate, as opposed to a beer that uses chocolate malts or something.

Had this brew at G.A.B.F. 08’’. Aroma is candy sweet with a sour note. Color is a hazy yellow/gold with a tight head. Starts with a light body that goes down smooth with a fizzy feel. Finish is sweet with a nice white chocolate flavor and faint bitterness. After taste is clean. This is a very good brew and one of the lighter chocolates I’ve tried.

GABF 2008. Hazy yellow gold. Aroma of freshly opened Aero candy bar (i.e. chocolate to the exclusion of all else). Weird sweet vegetal palate with chocolate undertones. This just seemed way off to me; pale malts and chocolate?!?

Draft at brewery(4/25/08)-A clear golden body with an aroma of chocolate and vanilla. The taste of chocolate grows throughout the mouthful on this light bodied brew. Not bad but a little lacking and good tasting.

Draft... DLD’08... Clear, pale yellow ale with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. Interesting chocolate aroma (considering its appearance) with minerally hops as well. Light-bodied and watery with diminished carbonation. Well-balanced, but mostly boring and thin. The chocolate doesn’t really shine through in the flavor. Short, stale finish.

Sampled at GABF 2007. Pours a dark brown sepia color with an off white medium sized head. Thin with very low carbonation. I get a mild artificial chocolate aroma. Flavor has a thin roasted coffee and chocolate taste, but it is definitely not rich on the chocolate side of things. Back to the factory for the Oompah Loompahs to learn how to make better beer!

On tap at the brewpub on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent golden bronze with a well-lacing spotty white head. Aroma has a nice milk chocolatey presence as the dominant character. Body starts slightly caramely sweet with a touch of toffee and more chocolate flavor toward a thinner toasty finish. An interesting and well-brewed, unique beer.
