Commercial Description:
Dark straw colored, this medium bodied ale retains some residual sweetness from pure clover honey, and a long lasting head from both wheat and barley malt. Relatively low hoppiness is coupled with the use of selected spices.

I found this wheat to be quite delicious. Golden in color, slightly hazy, with a frothy, white head. Flowery aroma, a mix of sweet wheat, clover honey, and orange blossoms. Very flowery sweet aroma, a mix of sweet wheat and oak. Soft, mildly sweet malt finish. I was very impressed.

Had this one on draught in Aurora, Illinois. Dark yellow, thinnish white head, nose of freshly baked bread and raisins, tastes very sweet, like cherries and roses and quite wheaty. Not bad.

12 oz. bottle, no freshness date, the brewery’s website currently lists the ABV as 5.4%, sampled in a pint glass. L: Unfiltered hazy, orangey straw golden with a billowy white head that slowly settled into a sudsy skim. The head retention on this wheat ale is quite good. Minimal amount of splotchy lace at the top of the glass. S: Raw barley grains and wheat malts, flowery, namely orange blossoms, touches of lemon and honey, notes of herbal hops as well. Mellow, but pleasantly flavorful smelling nose on this APWA, the aroma of a hot summer afternoon quaffer. F&T: Soft carbonation gives the light body a mildly firm and slightly creamy feel in the mouth, America’s Honey Wheat Ale is a smooth and easy drinker. Mellifluously sweet tastes of orange, lemon and honey, backed by pale malts and a gentle wheat twang. A delicate hop spiciness comes out in the finish. Finishes softly clean with just a briefly lingering lemon honey aftertaste. Honey Wheat Ale is a pretty decent American Pale Wheat Ale, fills the bill while watching baseball on this sunny and humid summer day.

Draft sampler at Payton’s Roundhouse. Straw color, a bit hazy, with a thin, textured head. Light crisp spiciness of an solid American wheat ale. Honey s just on the edge and not overdone. Just a hint of the milder American hops.

Sweet and dry aromas with honey that carries through to the flavor. Average looking, lively-golden with a white head. Flavor was honey-sweet to start and sugar-sweet to end. Medium bodied with a thick mouth-and-throat presence.

(Tap) Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Light and smooth body. Honey is definitely detectable, but not overwhelming. I didn’t really get much in the way of wheat malts; it seemed more like a blonde ale to me.

Sampled from tap on 11/10/2006 at Walter Payton’s Roundhouse in Aurora, IL... Hazy, medium gold color. Aroma was slightly sweet like honey with hints of wheat malt. Flavor was sweet honey wheat and a bit tangy. Another decent wheat beer, but nothing too memorable.

Bottle. Pours a golden that darkens and gets deeper towards the center of the glass and is very slightly hazy. Aroma is very mild, a touch of lemon and honey. Flavor is light with a touch of honey and a light floral bitterness. Thin and light bodied.
