tjthresh (1289), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bottle from the brewery the Mike was able to get from FoBAB 5.
Dense opaque black with a brown head with reddish hues.
Stunning aroma of chocolate, roast, booze, oak, and vanilla. All very forcefull and blended damn near perfectly.
Insane flavors. Chocolate, rye, oak, vanilla, and coffee. Quite bitter.
Rich, full body. Perfect carbonation. Dry finish.
What a great beer. Thanks, Mike! mdm46410 (560), Griffith, Indiana, USA Nov 10, 2007 On tap at FoBAB 5. This stout poured a deep, dark brown/black with a thin tan head that lasted throughout the sample. The aroma of the brew consisted of dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, and also some lightly alcoholic whiskey notes. The flavor was heavy on chocolate with subtle notes of alcohol and vanilla blending in nicely. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with mild carbonation. Very nice brew with excellent flavor. Cornfield (4263), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Nov 5, 2007 Mike Rybinski continues to develop his skills with the barrel. This pours black bodied with a firm brown head. It has an aroma of chocolate, dark stone fruits, rye, vanilla, and a light roastiness. Smooth. Oak and smoke are added to the flavor, rich with chocolate, spicy with rye, and just a bit boozey. Very nice.

Ughsmash (3004), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Nov 5, 2007 Bottled at FoBAB 5. Porued black with a very nice cap of deep brown head. The aroma picked up lots of deep chocolate, pumpernickel bread, and a hefty dose of barrel influence (vanilla and a sweeter, less-oppressive bourbon).. sweet and lightly roasted, with an enjoyable presentation. The flavor had a moderately-roasted, darker malty core (dark chocolate, molasses, and rye bread), again with a lot of barrel influence (tingly, sharper bourbon and vanilla primarily).. overall quite tasty. Medium-ish bodied and tangy on the palate from the bourbon primarily.. flowed decently. Drnk_McDermott (1545), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 5, 2007 FoBAB 2007. Maybe all these great beers are making me too happy to be objective. Hell, it’s enough that I can still read my notes. Big black pour from a bottle to my souvenir taster glass. Rich cocoa-colored head. Big Imperial stout smell, but its taste is totally smooth by rye whiskey notes. Big, big taste.
