| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Updated: Sep 13, 2009Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of Karl Ramisberger. Appearance: It pours a murky lactic golden beer with a huge, nicely lasting creamy white head which leaves a beautiful lacework. Aroma: Yeast, lemon peel, candy sugar, sage, white bread and horse blanket in the nose which is surprisingly inviting. There isn’t any banana or clove characteristic whatsoever. Reminiscent of sour ale. Flavor and palate: Sweet. Yeast accentuated. Low bitterness. Subdued hop profile. Slightly sour. Lemon peel, candy sugar and faint vinegar and horse blanket showing up. Subtle carbonation. Medium bodied. A raspberry component sneaking in. Yeasty finish. Overall impression: Definetely not a German Hefeweizen. Atypical. A wonderful beer- and a great surprise. Reminiscent of sour ale. Additional comment: Some bottles are clearly infected. Had 2 others side to side and the were huge differences in appearance, aroma and taste. The worst was more like 2 1 3 1 3 1.0
