Jul 9, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of caramel and hard roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of smoke and a light acidity from the hard roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Jul 25, 2005 Black body topped by a tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, coffee, roasty, light chocolate. Taste is just like it smells. Medium body, light acidity.

Jul 15, 2007 On tap at the brewpub during ABA Beer Tour 07. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick tan head that has good retention. Aroma of sweet coffee, milk chocolate, and some roasted nuts. Taste is full bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of coffee, black licorice, and vanilla. Not much flavor in the finish but has a smooth and creamy texture with a very dry hop bitter aftertaste.

May 25, 2006 Tap at SIxth St. Grill HR. Deep brown, near black in color. Smallish tan-brown head never really fades out, leaves nice lacing. Big chocolate aroma, nice mix of heavily roasted grain. Fuller bodied which is nice. Great chocolate flavor, big earthy hops appear in the middle to finish. Nice
