BlackDonald (1040), North Carolina, USA Jul 17, 2008 Copper penny colored with a quickly dissolving frothy white head. Has a faint aroma of fruit and caramel. Smooth on the palate, but slightly out of balance, a little on the lighter side. Gets better as it warms, but still can’t hold a candle to better examples of the style.
Oakes (6823), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 30, 2005 Bright orangey-amber with a good froth. Toasty aroma with notes of barbequed corn on the cob and whole wheat bread. Slightly peachy, juicy character. Light caramel and toast. Not as full-bodied as I might prefer, but a decent effort.
