BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 19, 2008 On cask this beer was odd in that it looked like an english strong but had a lot of coffee flavour throughout. SLightly smokey with a spice bite to it. Interesting all over the place tasty beer. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 22, 2006 Draught at the brewpub (2005 vintage). Reddish brown. Flowery nose. Roasty and solidly malty with some molasses and a lot of caramel. Thick, yet soapy mouthfeel. Fruity bitter finish. A beer that is all over the place, but I still enjoy. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Nov 21, 2005 On tap at the brewery. 2005 version. Very faint fruity aroma, light sweet malts (not caramelly at all). Flavour is sweet and fruity up front. A bit of earthy malts and light resiny hops. Hops used seem to be fairly fruity, a bit tropical with a touch of pine. Lingering bitterness. Seems a bit bigger and definitely hoppier than the ESB, but with a similar grain bill, light piny finish. Decent flavour and a fairly good seasonal, but not a great beer. Hazy dark amber. Earthy, slightly piney hops with brown sugar malts. Syrupy brown sugar malts with slightly leafy hop notes in the flavour. A little spicy...herbal...soapy...maybe some lemon verbena. Interesting.
