Commercial Description:
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Blah. Aroma was weak. Could pick up some dark fruit in the distance. Pour was a nice deep dark amber with a thin tan ring for a head. The taste was so so. Strong vinous flavor of dark fruit and sticky sweet roasted malt. Heavy carbonation with a semi bitter aftertaste. Just average.

(bottle): Pours a dark dark brown body, Big foamy off-tan head, good lacing, somewhat lasting. Very fresh aroma, outdoorsy, somewhat dusty. Malty, somewhat dusty, somewhat nutty taste. Good body, somewhat light. Spring-y. More creamy, fruity as it warms up.

Clear garnet color with a nice tan head. Aroma is first a whiff of hops then a more typical toffee malty smell. medium body and smooth. Decent taste is of mildly sweet malts and molasses flavored bread. Very easy drinking. 3237

This is a great looking drink - Smooth and sweet with a dry, moderate bitter finish. Very thin and somewhat tart. Bitter chocolate on the finish. Funny that Rob and I picked this up at 99Bottles and rated it so closely. Good times.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a tan head. On the nose I got liquorice, some chocolate and roasted malts. Promising! Too thin-bodied with some sweetness. Liquorice, molasses and roasted malts. I found the finish to be a bit weak

Provided by ilovedarkbeer at his latest tasting. Aroma is very heavy on coffee malts with a bit of clove and maybe even some menthol (and a bit of metal). Creamy, light brown head with good lacing. Nearly black in color. Taste is watery upfront with a salty, coffee, malty finish. Some alcohol.

Nose is nice roasted coffe and I think I detect some sort of minty note. Pours a black brown color with a decent sized tan head. Tastes like caramel, coffee, and finishes with a bit of semi sweet chocolate. Not amazing but my first dunkler bock, and I have to say I did enjoy it.
