Anchor Liberty Ale

Easy to drink and delicious, an excellent pale ale. Very drinkable, hazy orange hue with a white head which is mostly gone in about three minutes.

Hazy orange beer with a large, lacing head. The scent is filled with grassy and piney hops, and some mandarin. The taste has some piney hops, bready malt. The mouthfeel is a bit too carbonated. A rather good beer for regular consumption.

hazy straw pour, rocky yellowish head. aroma is strongly rose, backed by grass and a light caramel malt. nicely balanced flavor of fresh flowers -- again: roses -- with a malty and toasty caramel core. slightly watery, but nice carbonation and long mild bitter finish.

Pours a cloudy orange with a white, yeasty head. head fades within 2 minutes, but leaves a slight skin floating on top of the brew. Nose is of malt, grapefruit, and orange peel, with a smidgen of cantaloupe, bubblegum, and circus peanut candy. More hops than expected (no hops detected in the aroma by me). Not as sweet tasting as the nose would have lead me to believe. Just enough carbonation to entice the throat. After taste is a bit subdued. This is probably intentional to entice another sip. Liquid genius.

Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint. Pretty pale orangish-gold with nice white head and abundant lacing. Aroma of citrus and grapefruit hops, semi-sweet toasted malts with only a slight graininess, somewhat spicy. Smells more IPA than APA. Very nice Cascade hops with evident citrus and grapefruit. Malt is more in the background and mostly dry and only slightly grainy. Ends with a distinct spice and hop bite. Moderate carbonation, medium smooth and firm body, and very, very dry. Seems English in feel. This is pretty much THE original ale of the modern craft beer movement that spawned both the APA and IPA. Plus, it is fantastic.

bottle, pours hazy orange with a medium off white head. Strong cascade and orange juice aroma. Nice toasted malts balanced with a nice cascade hop profile. Nice, bitter, and dry in the finish.

Like all Anchor products, this one is very, very good. Definitley done in an American style, bearing little or no resemblence to it’s British counterparts across the pond, other than that it’s top fermented.. Golden with a very slight haze. Hops - lots of ’em - in the nose and on the palate. In my opinion, Northern Brewer hops may be the key hops player in this ale. There is a citrusy character to the taste and aroma that is clearly Cascade as well. The malt in this brew seems a bit underdone for the amount of hop bitterness, but that’s merely being nit-picky. If you prefer ale, especially hoppy ones, this one should be given a try.
